I know this has been discussed, but the posts are a little old now. I am starting prerequisites for nursing school (BIO201 to start). I need to take these online since I work full time and have a daughter. Has anyone recently taken the science prereqs at Phoenix College all online (lab too)? Is Rio Salado still not recommended overall? I am also considering Central Arizona College, after seeing a post here.
I am still deciding whether to apply to the ASU Post-Baccalaureate Clinical Nursing Program and/or the UofA MEPN in Phoenix, so any advice on that is welcome, too!
Thank you so much!

I've heard great things about Phoenix College for online Bio but can not tell you first hand. I'm currently taking BIO/202 in person (2 nights a week) and BIO/205 online in an 8 week format through Rio. Phoenix College was full by the time I needed to enroll and I needed the 8 week format :/ Rio is hard! All I can say with any online course is to really dedicate more time than you think to studying, I study BIO/205 about 5 hours per day now (but that is 8 week format) make flash cards, those are a life saver!
Thank you! I am going to do 16 week formats. I want to get through quickly, but I can't dedicate the time for 8 week sessions and do well. I am going to try to get into Phoenix College classes for spring. Good luck!
I think you are making a very wise decision, good luck!

I took all my pre-reqs online with Rio, and had a really good experience with them. I'm not sure why they have such a bad rep!

I would look in depth to the programs you are interested in- many will not accept online labs, sometimes won't accept online science courses at all! I did my sciences at Phoenix College in person and absolutely loved it though :) Try to get Professor Justin Howard for A&P!!
Interesting. I'll email them tomorrow to check! Thanks.
That's great! Thanks for replying. I'm not sure either, but it seems like they have changed formats in the last few years, so people may not have liked the old format. That's partly why I was asking, for an updated opinion.
The advisor I have been talking to at ASU confirmed that online science courses (lab too) are fine and she recommended Rio Salado :)
What's your degree plan - direct to University or via Community College? I know that the online classes are perfectly acceptable with CC. I took mine with Rio, including all labs.
I am hoping to get into the Post-Bacc at ASU or the MEPN at UofA in Phoenix, since I already have a degree.
