Phoenix Arizona Advice

Published

I'm relocating to Phoenix, AZ and have experience in ICU, especially CVICU. Can anyone tell me what are the better hospitals to work for? I'm looking at overall job satisfaction, not benefits, as I'll be a travel nurse initially and receive all my benefits and pay through the agency.

The options given to me have been Banner: Boswell Health Systems in Sun City, JCL NM, and Arizona heart hospital.

Also, I would appreciate advise on best areas to rent a house and which areas to avoid rough neighborhoods.

Have you tried the Arizona forum? I think opinions from staff there will be more relevant than from travelers.

I actually do have this exact post in the AZ forum. But I don't think it's frequented as often.

Specializes in tele, stepdown/PCU, med/surg.

I worked at JCL NM in 2007 at 2008 on their progressive tele floor and I loved it. Very good teamwork and MDs were OK. It was a great unit and I loved the hospital. It is a level 1 trauma center. That was a long time ago and I heard from one nurse a few years ago that it had gone downhill since, I don't know if that is true.

I am a nurse in Arizona!!

I currently work at Banner Desert, all of the Banners are good- Banner Heart is of course all CV. Honor health is newly magnet and I have heard good things (NM) it's a very busy hospital. Banner doesn't pay as well or regulate staffing numbers, but you do get CNAs and Techs to help, unlike the Dignity hospitals.

Specializes in PACU, ED.

I work with a couple of RNs who work at JCL, one in ICU. They both say good things about it.
