Good day!
I have a question regarding the application process for internationally educated nurses wanting to get licensed as Registered Nurses in Canada.
I am an RN in the Philippines. I graduated in 2012 and passed the Board exam for Nurses that same year. I worked as a volunteer Nurse until from November 2012 until December 2013. My aunt hired me under the Live-In Caregiver pathway (Caring for children) and I landed in Alberta, Canada in October 2014. I got my Permanent Resident status just now (March 2018) and I am currently working as a relief worker (under HCA) here (I will take the HCA PLAR challenge to get my certificate as an official HCA).
My questions are:
How will I go about my application for RNs (NNAs)?
How good are my chances of being accepted as an RN or LPN?
Will my hours worked as a volunteer nurse and/or my relief worker (HCA) count?

NNAS is a requirement for both RN and LPN. Check provincial requirements on hours but usually hours required are as a registered nurse not a relief worker
Thank you for the fast reply!
So does this mean that I won't be able to apply for my RN license here? Or Would I get the not comparable result from NNAs and have to rely on CARNA for my RN license?
You may have to do a return to nursing course after you meet requirements as your hours as a RN may have expired. Most if not all provinces require x amount of nursing hours within a certain timeframe and if you don't meet requirements you will have issues. Hours must be as a RN to meet CARNA requirements
