pharmacy cost of drugs???

I just started a new job at the hospital and am told that I can get my prescriptions through the hospital pharmacy for $1 more than what they pay. Anybody know where I can find the pharmacy price on the internet?

I doubt that you will find such information on the internet, or anywhere else. The cost of drugs to your hospital pharmacy depends on their purchasing agreements with the various manufacturers and is probably dependent upon the amount of business they do.

Just call your pharmacy to get the employee price of any prescription. I'm sure they will be happy to give it to you.

Although purchase price varies from contract to contract you will always have access to the average wholesale price of pharmaceuticals. Here are a few links to gather that information.

Several years ago when my wife was trying a new med it wasn't on our hospital's insurance plan (schedule II narc) and it would have cost me $135 for 100 pills. I called my employer and got it for the employee price of 2.97. No, I'm not kidding...as long as our outpatient pharm has it on the formulary...we can get it, typically at a greatly reduced rate. Good luck

Good to know! My family utilizes several prescription meds and my employer's insurance prescription plan has us pay a formulary or non-formulary copayment that varies from $10-$20 per month per prescription. Now I'm wondering if I ask to buy it through our hospital pharmacy, what it would be???

Well, I checked on the price today with the pharmacy and Cymbalta would cost around $90 with them or I can pay the $30-something copay at my regular pharmacy!

I feel sorry for people without prescription coverage.No wonder so many low income patients are non-compliant.I have taken care of folks who took their meds every other day or cut the dose against doctor's orders because it was either that or go without groceries...I have a dog with glaucoma and he gets cosopt 3 times a day-$130.00 for 10ml from local chain pharmacies......I can get it for $65.00 with free shipping from an on-line Canadian pharmacy.That's were I'll get it from next time I need it...I'm sure the American pharmaceutical companies want us to believe that meds from other countries aren't safe because they will loose money when we stop being held hostage to them...Not because they are concerned about our well-being...
