I'm taking Pharm, Patho, Micro, & TX Govt in the fall, and I've already browsed through all of my books. The first few chapters go over things like cells and how they work, etc. It shouldn't be too difficult, just read the material, and if you have questions, ask your instructor, the other students, or people here on AllNurses. I've discovered that if you pester an instructor politely, most are very willing to share their knowledge. I would also say to pick up a copy of the drug guide ( I have Mosby's, myself) so that you won't get caught offguard. That's just my two cents, but if you're like me, I hate being caught offguard, or not having all the information available when I need it. Good luck!

We didn't really have to memorize any medications, but rather had to learn about how meds are absorbed, metabolized, and excreted from the body. Also, there was some acid-base balance, fluid and electrolyte balance, drug classifications, drug administration (injections, primarily), medicating the elderly, and cultural aspects of drug therapy. Any math involved wasn't difficult (at least, not for me.)
Good luck!

I was actually disappointed in my pharm class. It was mostly math, the durg part our clinical instructors drilled in.:trout:
My Pharmacology is all online, except for proctored test, but I just found out that the Pharm class at my junior college may not transfer to the University Nursing program I'm applying to. I'm going to head up to the school today to try and find out if I have to take Pharm from them for it to count as an upper level undergraduate class, or if I have to drop the Pharm and pick up another class to make my schedule full time. The Patho is completely online, so that makes it very easy for me, and the Micro I'm taking is a campus class right here in town.
Hopefully, I can get permission from the director of nursing to allow me to take another nursing class while I'm waiting to apply. Wish me luck!
My Pharmacology class is just called "PHARMACOLOGY" its in college, and not online, but not really sure what to expect! Thanks for all the comments.

i just took pharmacology this summer and it was vewry difficult. we went over about 52 chapters in nine weeks. each test consisted of 40 pharm questions and 10 drug calculations (mostly heparin iv and insulin questions). each chapter had many drugs in it and i never knew what i would be tested on. also, at the end of the semester i had to take the hesi pharmacology which i scored 1078 on. i was suprised since i only ended up with an 81.2 for my final grade. good luck, just stay with it and it will be worth it. a lot of my classmates dropped and now thay are looking at it again this fall. don't give up!
