Petition for declaratory order-Texas Board of Nursing

Published

I have been asked to submit a petition for declaratory order to the Texas Board of Nursing. I am having trouble on how long and how much detail to put into the letter. I NEED HELP. I might be thinking too much into it, but then again IT IS MY FUTURE. Has anyone had to submit a letter? If so , any tips/examples? Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Texas Board of Nursing - Declaratory Order

I had to submit a letter. I was arrested twice for shoplifting and I had deferred adjudication both times (I was a bit of a wild child). I made sure I wrote about my circumstances at that time and I included all the ways I changed since I made my mistakes (I joined the military soon after those arrests, I have excellent credit, I got my BA with a 3.8 etc...). I included copies of all of my claims (a current resume, DD214, credit report, transcripts). They approved me within 6 weeks. The point is, you made mistakes--many of us do, show them the difference between you then and now. Include any proofs you can think of to support your claims and you should be okay.

How long did it take them to approve you? I have the same charges from when I was a juvenile. I sent in all my court docs as well as a letter stating basically that I was a wild child and have grown into a responsible adult and now they are requesting a 150$ fee to continue reviewing it. Did you have to do this?

I had to do one last year! The first time I submitted it then requested more court documents which delayed the decision. Once all court documents were sent it took about 60-90 days. Then I got a letter asking for a few because it was being sent to another department. Once I sent the fee it took about 60-90 days to receive an approval. Mine was also in Texas.
