Hi everyone. I have a per diem job I just started. I worked 1 day in December, and a few days in January. I haven't got a check yet though for the hours I worked I go in this week again. Should I ask where my check is for the days I already worked? I'm just worried since the day I worked in December is technically last year. What would you do if you were in my situation?

There's an ancient Chinese proverb I made up that says "no money, no workie."

I would certainly be talking to them about this because I bet they will send you notice of the tax reporting for the day worked in December, whether you were paid or not. That would not be the first time something like that happened.

Ask for the pay.
You earned it.
If you feel you are getting screwed call your state's labor board.
And decline to clock, or sign it until corrected.

I don't think I'd work another day until I was paid. I would make sure that my boss understood that was the reason for refusing.

Call them immediately and ask why you haven't been paid. Let them know that until you are paid, you will have to decline any further hours with them.

I'm surprised you haven't asked by now. I would have asked if I hadn't received a check within my first 2-3 weeks of working.
