[color=#231f20]nursing award recognizes a nonmember who has

[color=#231f20]demonstrated leadership characteristics and rendered

[color=#231f20]distinguished service to the nursing profession, and

[color=#231f20]whose contributions and accomplishments are of

[color=#231f20]significance throughout the commonwealth. the john

[color=#231f20]heinz friend of nursing award is the highest award

[color=#231f20]accorded by the pennsylvania state nurses association

[color=#231f20]to a nonmember.

[color=#231f20]criteria:

[color=#231f20]1. the contributions and accomplishments of the

[color=#231f20]nominee must be of significance to the nursing

[color=#231f20]profession throughout the commonwealth.

[color=#231f20]2. the nominee has contributed to and has been

[color=#231f20]involved with the pennsylvania state nurses

[color=#231f20]association.

[color=#231f20]3. the nominee is a nonmember of pa state

[color=#231f20]nurses association.

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]award

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]recognizes a member who has been actively

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]involved in the past year in legislative activities and/or

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]advocacy for the professional practice environment of

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]nursing at the local, state and/or federal levels. activities[color=#231f20]

[color=#231f20]such as involvement in campaigning as part of the

[color=#231f20]elective process, lobbying, and serving as a key contact

[color=#231f20]on legislative issues are examples of activities for

[color=#231f20]consideration. advocacy areas include workplace safety,

[color=#231f20]economic enfranchisement, and occupational satisfaction.

[color=#231f20]for strength of character, commitment and competence,

[color=#231f20]the recipient is recognized by peers as one who

[color=#231f20]contributes to nursing involvement in the legislative

[color=#231f20]process and the general welfare concerns of nursing.

[color=#231f20]criteria:

[color=#231f20]1. the nominee demonstrates active involvement

[color=#231f20]in legislative and advocacy activities at the

[color=#231f20]local, state and/or federal levels.

[color=#231f20]2. the nominee provides leadership by inspiring

[color=#231f20]peers to become actively involved in the

[color=#231f20]legislative process and/or contributes to the

[color=#231f20]improvement of the quality of patient care.

[color=#231f20]3. other considerations include community

[color=#231f20]involvement, participation in nursing organizations,

[color=#231f20]and recognition from peers.

[color=#231f20]4. the nominee must hold current pa state

[color=#231f20]nurses association membership and be an

[color=#231f20]active member of the association.

[color=#231f20]this award is given in honor of kathryn grove and

[color=#231f20]mary ann arty in recognition for their contributions

[color=#231f20]to the organization.
