Job prospects for a new grad in Philly?

  1. I'll be starting my Acclerated BSN soon, and after I graduate I may be moving to Philadelphia to be with my boyfriend.

How are the job prospects in Philly, especially at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, for a new grad? Do hospitals in Philadephia generally prefer nurses with at least 1 year of experience, or will I be able to find a job relatively easy without any experience?

Thanks so much for your help! I'm so excited about being a nurse.

If you have a problem with CHOP try the Schiners (I spelled that wrong) on Roosevelt Ave. I believe it is a part of St. Jude's. Actually, I used to leave near Philly for three years I found it a great place to live and work. Good Luck

CHOP is new grad friendly. Lots of inservice programs. Salary is lower than some other hospitals + pay for parking. Great learning environment.
    New grads welcome most hospitals.

From what i hear, CHOP is awesome and VERY new grad friendly. Several of my classmates now work there and i am currently interviewing. NRSKarenRN was right on - lower pay and you pay for parking - but the experience and environment alone are worth it. Best of Luck to you!!
