Hey ladies. I just applied for the Fall of '17, but I am extremely nervous now. I took Nutrition (got an A!) but had NO idea it had to be taught by a registered dietitian. I had no idea until I received the confirmation email for my application submission. Did any of you run into this problem? Nothing in their information online said anything about this...this will push me back an entire semester and it'll be my THIRD time taking Nutrition. UGH!

Hi, I applied for spring 2018 and they received all my transcript a little over a week ago. I called admissions and was told I will hear back from them in about a month or less.

Sharpelzee, thank you! I have been so anxious. I may reach out to them when I resend my transcripts next week, since I finish up the last pre-requisite on Thursday. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Hey Izzy. I started the program two weeks ago. I heard of my acceptance the last week of August, for the January start, and I know they said decisions were being mailed out through the first week of September. So, I would say you may be hearing something in the next few weeks. When in doubt, just reach out to the school, that's what I did. Good luck to you! I am already enjoying the program!

Thank you so much for replying. Yea I spoke to Don he said sometime next month. Please tell me everything! I'm trying to get myself prepared. I'm so nervous. Did you have to buy shoes ? Insurance? How are your teachers ? What does your schedule look like ? I'm planning on quiting my job if I get accepted.

Sorry for all of the questions.

Hahaha I was the SAME way. I was on here desperate for answers. At orientation, they will tell you almost everything you need to know, so it gets kind of exciting from there.

You will need to have insurance, in order to participate in clinicals, which is mandatory. Since I'm not working much, I actually was eligible for Medicaid, so it's a possibility for you. You will have to buy shoes, for lab and clinicals, as well as your Holy Family scrubs (specific to the school), a stethoscope, pen light, and you'll have a list of things needed to get done for clinicals (background check, vaccinations etc). Right now we're in classes/lecture four days a week and lab two of those days. Lab days are longer, but the other two are short. Moving forward I believe we'll be in classes two-three days a week and clinicals 1-2 days a week. "Semesters" are set up in two 8-week sessions. The professors all are amazing, so helpful and kind, and they all genuinely care that everyone does well. And as for affording it (if you can't pay out of pocket), most of my tuition is actually covered by federal loans, and a small piece of it will be covered by a personal education loan.

Working while taking the first session is definitely doable but as the content gets harder and clinicals kick in, I know it gets a little harder, but students in other cohorts said they still work, it's just all about time management. What's nice, is we're now included in the Student Nurses Association, so in this group, you can get assigned to a mentor, who's gone through the program to help you. It really seems like an amazing program, I'm really excited to be there.
