Hello everyone

Ok I'm a little worried, no scratch that, I'm very worried. I took my AHT on 2\23\12 and I have not heard a single thing from CCP. Sadly I only got a 6 however I talked with the counselor about my chances at getting in and she stated that probably not but considering I took most of the classes required while in nursing-- except for the actual nursing classes-- and have a

B.S. already she stated that I still have a pretty good chance at getting in. In addition to that, she stated that most of the individuals who took AHT got below a 15 and that has was weird to say the least, so that coupled with my degree and the classes I already took gave me hope the I would get in but I still haven't heard anything. I need some thoughtful words of encouragement or a straight forward "your not getting in" type of response from all of you who already got there acceptance letters. In closing, I would like to ask two questions

1. If I was denied, how come I haven't gotten a letter yet ? Were they sent out already ?

2. I heard the longer you wait the better your chances are; so does that mean I'm still being considered ? Or they just haven't got around to sending out my denial letter lol ?

Whoever can shed some light on this stressful situation it would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance !!!!!

Honeslty no one here can really make a sound judgment on whether you'll get in or not. It's not up to anyone here...I got in with certain odds against me...im on academic probation for 3 withdrawals within a two year period but I'm also on academic honors for having a gpa of 3.7 and I scored 21 on the AHT. I do know this...this was a real bad year because there were a lot of low GPA's and AHT test scores so GOOD LUCK

They also use Lankenau and Holy Redeemer. Clinicals are 7am-1 pm. They may have alternate clinical times and will ask for volunteers for those times. Unfortunately you dont get to pick where you have your clinical at, you get whatever they give you.

Do you know how likely it is to get an alternate clinical time...im asking because I work overnight and am trying to guage whether I should purchase a vehicle or not

I heard they go by your zipcode in choosing where your clinicals will be.. is there any truth in that?

They send an email to all the students listing the alternate clinical times and locations. Its on a first come, first serve basis so the first students to respond will get those times. This the email i received last year for the alternate clinical times:

Hi Class,

Here are the list of clinical sites with alternate times. If you are interested in one of these slots, please email me today. Because we have some students in lab today until 12:15pm, I will take email requests begininng at 1pm. My email address is [email protected].

Also, you must be absolutely certain that you can attend clinical during this time before volunteering. Changes to the clinical assignment will not be made once you have been assigned to a site.

Lankenau Hospital - Thurs 2-6pm, and Friday 7-3pm

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital - Wednesday 2-8pm, Thursday 6:45 - 12:45pm

Holy Redeemer - Wednesday 2-8pm, Thursday 2-8pm

I'm not sure how true that is because we were told that they want us to be prepared to travel to wherever they decide to place you. It doesnt matter where you live or where you work or if you have to arrange child care, you have to be able to get to and from your clinical site. It would be sooo nice to get a hospital thats close to where you live, but its not guaranteed.

Just spoke with the Nursing counselor and being that she is the closest person, that I know of, to the admissions process, I chose to believe what she said. She stated that I'm still being considered. In addition she stated that they were now considering individuals who accumulated 6 points, which was my score. After the end of the conversation she urged me to be patient which, to me, implied that I just had to wait for my acceptance letter. Any thoughts ???? For me, it seems that my odds of getting in have increased however I don't want to put, for lack of better words, all my eggs in one basket.

during this time of year i'd say patience is the best thing because almost every local program has passed application deadline...so the "eggs in one basket" idiom would have to wait til next year...keep hope alive though

Cupidsqueen for the clinicals I honestly just registered for the first one. I figured they all look the same and they'd put me wherever they put me and I'll see where I end up. It would be nice to have some say where we go, though, but either way it will be good to get some varied experiences.

Bcolli I was told that they only accept 9's, 8's and 7's, but I'm sure if not enough people scored that high they would start considering 6's to fill the 135 spots. Perhaps they're filling as those who were offered spots are sending back declines if they prefer to go elsewhere. I will pray for the best for you.

I'm well aware that they only accept 9's,8's,and 7's as I've been told that from numerous people on here along with actually reading it in my student's manual. If it's meant to be than it's meant to be thus my decision to not post on here again until I'm accepted.

Will do !!!! Just to clear up what must have been some confusion in what I wrote, CCP was the only school I applied to along with being fully aware of my options and the consequences that would result in me only applying to one school. When I say "eggs in one basket" I'm more or less conveying my belief that I will be accepted based on what I'm being told.

It was nice to meet some of you at the CPR training. I must saying I'm getting a bit nervous about finding a job, even though I haven't started school yet. I hoped to work at the hospital near where I live because they're the only place that accepted ASN nurses without a year experience. I'm volunteering there this summer and hoped they would hire me as an aid while in school. Anyway, I just checked their employment listings and it appears they changed everything. You now need a BSN to be a nurse there, and a be a BSN student to work as an aid. Even the long term care facilities don't take new nurses. Yikes. Are you all concerned, too, or is it just me? I guess now's our time to start networking!
