Pediatric Panic

  1. Hello, fellow nurses! I am currently an internal medicine nurse at a family practice where we not only have internal medicine, but family as well as peds. I have never trained in peds and love internal medicine. Management has now stated all staff will now be required to cross train in all areas. The pedi world sends me into a panic. I know the more practice and exposure, the more comfortable I might be, but when I have to vaccinate kids, I begin to shake and sweat. Each nurse has her niche and peds is definitely not mine; in fact, I previously used safe harbour for being assigned to work in peds without adequate training. Any advice on how to overcome and succeed?

    Thanks in advance!
