Pediatric Home Health RN taking CPN exam

Published

Hi everyone!

I've been working as a pediatric home health RN for just over a year and a half and I'm starting to study for my CPN.

Being in home health I work with patients for a matter of months and I feel like I haven't been exposed to much outside of lots of vents, trachs and G tubes.

Anyone have any advice or experiences to share that will help me prepare for the exam?

I'd find a good text book and purchase some practice questions. Pediatrics is a very broad field, but by answering questions you'll get a feel for the topics you should focus on. Have you looked at the resources on pncb.org?

I used the society of pediatric nurses' review book (purple cover). All the things you need to know are highlighted in purple. A lot of the test content is similar to what you may have learned in pediatric nursing in school. Just review the areas you are rusty on. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Hi! Any progress? Did you take the examination? I'm a school nurse and I've purchased a review DVD from Nurse Builders. I'm planning on purchasing a review book with practice questions as well.
