Harmless looking products can kill a child.

My little boy has just been release from PICU due to ingesting visine... A word of warning for parent who leave things like thin in their purses or on the coffee table. A dose as small as 5ml can KILL a 2yr old child. I had Visine in my backpack and my son got a hold of it while I wasn't looking. I am not the type of parent that regularly leaves ANY type of med lying around. Visine has Absolutly no Child resistant packaging. I didn't think that it was all that dangerous until I found my little boy on the flor of my living room in respiratory arrest. Please be careful.

thank goodness your little one is okay!! i have a very inquiring 2yr old, who just loves mommy's purse!! she finds my empty contact lense case and pretends to put on contacts "like momma do". i have also caught her trying to twist off the cap from my visine bottle! thank you soooo much for the information!! i had absolutely no idea - never thought of it being that harmful!! thank you and hopefully everythings ok with your little one!

Yes he was very critical for at least a week. he was on a vent and many ,many drugs ans there is no antidote.

A bartender told me he would put a few drops of Visine into the drink of an unruly drunk to get rid of them. He said it did not take long until the drunk would be "blowing from both ends".

It is VERY Dangerous. Here are somthings that can happen from ingesting Visine:

Lowering body temperature to dangerous levels

Making breathing difficult, or even halting it entirely

Blurring vision

Causing nausea and vomiting

Elevating and then dropping blood pressure

Causing seizures or tremors

Sending the ingester into a coma

Prayers and hugs to your little boy, you and your family. OMG, I would never have thought anything about that innocent looking bottle of Visine. Praise God your little boy is okay. How terrifying for you. Thanks for letting us know so we can be educated and educate others on the dangers of Visine, perhaps another child will be spared such a traumatic experience.

D*** how do they live with themselves? Everyone's tolerance is different, they could kill someone.

How horrible! I never thought about that either- Visine oughta have that plastered everywhere and make the bottle bright orange and childproof!!! What the h*** is wrong with them???

I would seriously consider a lawsuit if I were you.
