I am trying to make decisions on where I want to work when I graduate. I like a lot of different areas, but peds is up there on my list. However, I don't want to catch every bug out there. Do you oeds nurses bvget sick a lot?

i have worked with peds for almost 20 years and i have become convienced that the only way the children get well is to pass it to the nurse! lol

I have been in pediatrics for 8 years. The first two winters were tough for me, I think I caught every virus known to man. Now, I rarely get sick which is the case for most of the people I work with. Eventually you will become immune to most of the viruses you come in contact with!

Besides washing hands, which is a biggie...take care of yourselves...I think many of us are so concerned about the health of the patients that we neglect our own health. Eat healthy, get some exercise and fresh air and use precautions (i.e. masks and gloves) when situations call for it.
I always thought I was healthy until my friends started having kids and then wham...if they had a cold, I got it. Well, I realized it was because I wasn't taking care of my health (particularly eating healthy) as much as I thought.
