When I first saw the thread topic I thought it said "pray for nurses willing to go to saudi arabia". I do think they deserve our prayers, though. I am not sure the money would be worth it. Just make sure you have a good life insurance policy before you go.

Had a coworker go to Saudi for the experience and $$. She got in a wreck, ended up a quad. Not that this can't happen anywhere, but she was quite loud in her warning that the medical care there is not what it is here. Be forewarned....we are entering foreign soil...and all the problems of that particular area do not help either...

I'd rather cross a picket line in Detroit than go to Saudi...
Traveler pay, Registry, and PRN wages have to be good enough for me in the USA...
Uncle Sam, here's my 30%
I'll work an extra day/week to make up for NOT going to Saudi...

I think id stay here and make my pittance of pay. I couldnt handle it merely for the way women are treated in those countries, no way no how. At least if im treated that way here i have a voice and can use it. And again the medical care, dont ya wonder why 90 percent of their doctors stay here instead of returning after med school?

I'm proud to be an American and if I work it will be IN AMERICA, FOR AMERICANS and let Uncle Sam have it all just so I can Be here. That's not being Jingoistic it's being truthful.

Something to keep in mind from a friend who did a year or so in SA:
In many of these Muslim countries, when something goes wrong (i.e. a powerful or wealthy patient dies or grows more ill), SOMEONE always gets blamed. If you are the foreign nurse who provided some of this person's care, guess who that someone would be.
That is the main reason she did not agree to sign another contract, relatively lucrative though it was. She didn't want to wind up with no license AND have legal proceedings brought against her for something that she had nothing to do with.

Amen to what sjoe said. Though I am stating the obvious, it bears repeating: they do not enjoy civil rights over there as we do here in the good old USA. Once accused, you may end up in prison or WORSE with NO WAY OUT

Definately work thru an Angency - check on the net, should be heaps of info. One of my co-workers has just left to go to Saudi for a year to earn $$$$$, especially as our kiwi $$ don't quite match US & Aussie $.
With whats been happening lately she was talking to alot of people about their experiences, interestingly enough a married couple, both doctors had been there she said she would go back and loved it he said exactly the opposite.
She also managed to get in touch with someone who's working there at the moment and spent alot of time e-mailing and getting advice etc.
Keep checking, if I didn't have my dogs I would think seriously about it.
