Pay in MD

U.S.A. Maryland

Just wondering what everyone thought of the pay here in Maryland? And are any local hospitals paying more for ICU/ER nurses?

I think the pay here in MD is good. I have done some research on the web checking salary ranges for RN's and Md is on a pretty good payscale. I only researched surrounding states and some southern states. I'm not sure about the ICU/ER. I'm still a student, but a dear friend of mine is making very good money as a RN and she does Med/Surg. Browse the net for the specialty. You can go on Yahoo or salarywizard.com. Hope this helps!! :D

I hear the pay is good as well. I have a couple of friends who work in nursing and I don't know exactly what they make, but I know that they are able to afford apartments by themselves...so I guess that is a good sign :)

From what I've heard figure around $45,000-$49,000 + to start, depending on the hospital.

HI!! I know of an immediate need in ER , pay $48/hr. I know some that get $51

I live in Maryland and I am in 2nd semester, but I talk to a lot of Nurses at the hospital I work for and they seem to pay very good. One nurse who works on PCU makes on average $80,000 per year, but he works four 12 hour shifts. After 1 year of experience, you can work every weekend and make $33 an hour, and every other weekend you can make $30 an hour.

Hope this helps!! Scott

I'm still in BSN school, but MD seems to be one of the higher paying states.

It depends if you work for a hospital or for an agency and what shift you work, but with overtime the sky is the limit. As a staff nurse you can expect to make around 23 [new grad] per hour...with 3-4 years of experience you ca make a base rate of 26-28 per hour. Shift differentials range from 2-4 dollars for evenings and nights and usually another 2-4 for weekends. Agnect Nurses make between 40-50 an hours. You can find some agencies that pay more but you may get cancelled more frequently.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I want to know why Doctors Comunity Hospital in Lanham, Maryland pay only $22.50 as a starting pay for Med/Surg RN?

hi scott! thanks for the info. how about the tax? and the cost of living there? (i am hoping to be based in maryland. my immigrant visa will be processed starting this month of may. i hope to be there before the year 2004 ends. is it possible? :) ) can i afford a house plus all the bills? how about the education for my kids? i have 2 kids, one is 5 years old and the other is 4. if i may also ask, how do they treat foreign nurses there? do they really require hospital experience? i graduated 1995. i only had one year of private duty nursing. from then on, i work in a non-related field. i passed CGFNS and IELTS last year. I have my visa screen certificate last month. all i need is my visa.

if you have time, id appreciate your comments. thanks and God bless..
