What constitutes abandoment in the state of Texas?
Curious here and would appreciate any help.

I think in texas, (but don't quote me) that if you accept report on a patient assignment and then leave, that is abandonment.
Not sure about the rest. I'm still having a hard time deciphering the Tx BNE's website! LOL

Also, once you have accepted assignment, you must secure another nurses' care before leaving them. Like if you are ill and must leave, another RN must assume responsibility for them and you must give them report.

Hi, go to the website www.bvne.state.tx.us. Look under Practice bar on top and click on patient abandonment. There is the info!!!:)

thanks stephera! You know, the Texas NPA is giving me a really hard time. I mean, it's not supposed to be that hard, ya know? Sheesh. I'm gonna read it again, and I might just print it this time.
