Published

hi y'all. i passed my pharm class and my final average turned out to be a B! i actually took the final yesterday but i was so overwhelmed with joy it seemed so surreal. so now this morning i come here to share with y'all my excitement. woooh PHARM is as easy as HELL, if ya know what i mean. im so eager i feel like i can't wait to start next semester already hahaha lol. im not sure about classes ahead but do the instructors make powerpoint/blue prints slides? if so, please let me when/where to collect 'em from you if in case you got any...it doesnt matter what semester you're in coz im still heading thataway. thanks!

I am talking that class next week. Do u have any survival tips. I am reading some chapters now but don't have a guide. How were the teachers? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you for any help.

Most importantly Congrats

hey Lovie12, thanks! are you taking it at hcc-coleman...and what kind of book are you reading? survival tips?...all i can say is study your behind off like crazy. im your average joe when it comes to academics but starting nursing school had me rethinking my study strategies. how did i do it? i set up a study time-table starting from 6am-10pm. wake up at 6am. start studying from 7am-10am. 1 hour break. resume studying from 11am-2pm. 1 hour lunchbreak. resume studying from 3pm-6pm. 1 hour dinnerbreak. recap all that i had studied the whole day from 7pm-10pm. night snack...BEDTIME! this may seem easy for single people without kids and no jobs but i gotta tell ya that im married with a kid and husband and i do have a weekend job so i made the most of my time while not working. sometimes i did all-nights in case i got busy during the day, especially the night before exams. good luck and you'll do great. cheers!

I start Pharm in the Fall semester and I must saying, I'm kinda looking forward to it. But then again, I've been a Pharmacy Tech for 12 years so I have a slight advantage. There's a class at my college that's called Surgical Pharmacology and since my ultimate goal is to be a CRNA, I thought that would be a great class to take but they said it was for Surg tech students only. Daaarn it

hi Annachu512. there are only 2 types of pharm classes at hcc-coleman as far as i know. the LVN program pharm - which is totally watered down and about 50chapters long ANNNNDDDD the RN pharm which is complete HELL and is 78chapters long and small print with tooo much detail you can't just ignore. choose your pharm class wisely bcoz there is a catch to it (as in, the kind of care you will offer upon employment after graduation). good luck.

Yes I am doing it at Coleman and I want to thank you for being brutally honest. I have the Pharmacology connections book that I started to read and answer question and I am using the flashcard app I have on my iPhone. I know it going to be a lot. But I will and have to do it. Thanks again and hope to see you in the fall.

and oh yeah Lovie12, all i can tell you is to basically study study and study the powerpoints bcoz thats where the majority of the questions come from. i mean, yes study the book and summarize with the powerpoints BUT with a class so short like summer's i would definitely deal with the powerpoint slides prints mostly if i were ya. how about we meet? but another thing is that study the prototype drug in full-depth bcoz once you know one, then you know the rest of the drugs in that class. i dont mean to discourage you from using any kind of self-help that might "up" your grades in pharm but none of that rrreally worked for me. it was all about class material.

Thanks nubian for your help. I really do not like summer classes but I have been doing a lot of second starts so I know what to expect. Ready to start but dreading it also. Thanks everyone for the help.

anytime dear. lemme know if u need anything...pharm

i just sorta rem'd something. heart medicines (like propanolol, labetalol, carvedilol, metoprolol...) are very hard to master. but to help you out, the "...olol" part of the word means 2 letter Bs facing the back to stand for Beta Blockers. if i rem some, i let you know! ;)
