Hello all!
i decided to write a blog post about my experience with the nclex because this website helped me sooooo much while I was preparing for it. Hearing people's stories about their journey not only motivated me but also made me realize that I am not the only one who is taking this journey and that there are so many others that experienced the same motions as me so basically you are not alone!
Well I went to nursing school and Chicago and the experience was...... Intense to say that least. I had no experience in the field so I came in with a blank slate and I struggled through nursing school and came out with average grades. Cut to I chose Kaplan as my mode of study and I never got above 60% on ANY of my q-trainers and that made me very nervous. I read the whole Kaplan book except the pharm chapter and I can't say that it helped me much with nclex. What did help was doing tons and tons of practice questions. I will say that Even though I stufied A lot ...I felt like I could've studied more even before I went into the exam. I guess everyone feels that way when you let distractions get the best of you. Anyway took the exam at 8 am on a Friday. Questions were...surprisingly not hard. I thought Kaplan prepared me in that sense because Lapland questions were so much harder.
I took a ok a break at 50 questions because ..l well I had two bottle of water before I went in lol...and then I surpassed 75 and I literally said "dammit" because I knew then this was gonna be a long test. Even during my practice tests I would get one question right and one question wrong so I knew the computer was going to have a hard time deciding if I was "competent" or not and that's exactly what happened. I passed 100, then 130, 150 and then I mentslly prepared myself because I thought I was going to get th full 265........ Unfortunately (or so I thought) the computer shut off at 197 and I felt like death. I walked out feeling almost sure I failed because 197 ??? That's such a random number. So I went home and I knew about the PVT but I didn't try it NOT because waiting was easy (it wasn't trust me) but because I wanted to see the words PASS or FAIL not not rely on a trick to tell me my results. During the 48 hour wait this site was my best friend ❤️. I read so many posts and even though reading these posts made me more nervous I felt like the people on this site we the onlyyyyy ones who understood what I was going through.
Anyways 48 hours later (48 hours that I didn't sleep lol) I woke up at 730 and saw my results were up. I prayed and paid the $8 and......
I PASSED!!!!!!
shocked ? Yes but not because I felt lik I didn't put in effort but simple because the number 197 in my head meant FAIL. So guess what guys 76 questions 84 questions or even 264 questions....doesn't matter ...what does matter is that you know your stuff and with hard work and a whole lot of prayers it is all possible !
best of luck! And work hard now so you can reap the benefits later
Happy Studying ?
