Part Time Navy Nurse?

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get some insight into what being in the Navy as a nurse entails. I've done all the research I can on their website, but I'd prefer to not get information about something from the people who are trying to sell it to you

I work full time on a labor and delivery/pediatric floor. I have my BS in biology and my BSN. I'm looking to pursue the FNP route, but then one of my friends who is actively enlisted suggested I look into this (because, as everyone knows, tuition is out of control).

I would like to do part time so I can maintain my current job and go back to school, but I want to know exactly what I would be signing up for. The website says one weekend a month and then two full weeks a year.

I live about two hours south of Charleston, so I was curious if most of that would be taking place there?

Any information would be extremely helpful!!

You really do need to speak with a healthcare recruiter if you are interested in a position in the Reserves. They have current information on needs and benefits such as education reimbursement or assistance. Just be aware that Reservists do deploy or get mobilized to backfill those who deploy, which could interfere with your education plans. The needs of the service will always come first. Location would depend on openings in units in the desired area. Good luck!
