I'm looking to relocate to Austin next year and I'm wondering if there is a part time program available. I've done a Google search but I'm not finding much. Please help!

@Adriannafenee, I would call the school or try to find an email of their nursing department, but honestly I don't think I've ever heard of a part time nursing program whether its ADN LVN or BSN. Programs are full time because of the amount of school, academic and the time you need to go into clinicals.
Oh Okay! In Dallas, we have part time lvn. Class Monday through Wednesday evening and clinicals every other weekend for 12 hours. It's just a little longer than the full time program.

Hi! I'm from Austin and went to school there. The only LVN program that I know of is Austin Community College, and it is full time and usually has a long wait, as does their ADN plan. It will be difficult to find a job in the Austin area as an LVN, as the major hospitals won't hire them. It's usually only clinics or nursing homes. All of the hospitals prefer BSN candidates, and if they hire you as an ADN you will sign a contract agreeing to get your BSN in two years. Please be prepared...it's a highly competitive market with lots of local universities graduating BSN candidates (UT Austin, Concordia, St. Edwards, etc.) It's also an expensive place to live. I love Austin and it will always be home to me. I wish you the best of luck and welcome!
