Parmacology at Brookhaven/Mountainview?

Published

Hi I have to take Pharm in the fall and wanted to ask for advice on which professor you would recommend. I think there is Ames at Brookhaven and Stephenson at Mountainview. Anybody have experience with either? I would really appreciate your input.

Thanks,

I had Adair for Pharmacology and I took it online (tests in the testing center though).

Ames is good from what my classmates tell me. I had her for other classes.

I just finished summer with Dr. Stephenson........I don't know how she is with other courses.

I would say either one...but if you want some more info on them send me a message.

Thanks, I am taking Pharm with Ames this Fall and Dosages with Mclelland. Thanks for the info. Have you already tried to apply already or have you taken this HESI yet?

I finishing my 2nd semester in the nursing program. I graduate in May.

I think Ames is the better choice of the two.

Well you are halfway there...I am going to submit my application for Spring '09. I am planning on taking the HESI in August. Any advice? :)

Hey MARA0523 I plan on taking pharm this fall too at BrookHaven. I'm also taking patho as well. I wanted to apply for the spring but I'm scared that with the new point system I won't get in since I'll lose 4 points by not having those two classes. Do you have any info about the new point system they are doing now?? Maybe I'll see you in class :)

Hey Mara and Princess,

I am also taking Pharm and Dosage at BHC this fall. Along with Patho and End of Life Issues. Anyone taking those?

What kind of advice are you looking for? Advice to get in the program or advice once you're in?

I'll tell you this....do well on your HESI. Go buy the HESI study guide at the book store and study it. I got the big bulk of points from my good HESI score.

There were a few classes that I hadn't taken and I still got in. You should definitely try to get those classes worth the big points first. Even if you don't think you will get in, apply anyway so you can get the 3 extra points.

Thanks I will apply and see what happens. I won't be able to take dosage or end of life due to my work schedule but since those are only 1 pt a piece I wasn't too worried about it. I'm so scared about patho and pharm this semester!!!

Hey Princess, I am taking Pharm at BHC this Fall also. I am just finishing Patho this Summer, I take my final next week. man, it was a killer!!! :banghead: It was just so intense, but I survived! Is the point system going to change??? Did you see that they are also going to start interviewing, also? Can they make it any harder? But I am still going to apply...

Hey JLA, I kind of figured that the higher the HESI the better. Since we get the bulk of the points there. I bought the study guide and I plan to practice some reading comprehension(my weakness) on-line. Wish me luck...and the advice I'm looking for is for once you get into the program any tips???:D
