Palomar/Mira Costa College or any SoCal nursing school...pls share your experience :)

Hi guys, I am planning to apply in February 2014 to Palomar College and Mira Costa for acceptance in Fall 2014. I am taking my last set of classes and feeling very anxious the closer it gets to my application date. It would be VERY helpful if anyone who has applied to either Palomar or Mira Costa can share their experience and the points they have when they were applying.

Right now if I get an A in my Micro, Math and Socio I will have total of 80-82 pts..including my 5pts for volunteering, 80 percent on TEAS, and second language pts. Im excited but also very anxious. It would help so much if I hear from someone who is or has been on the same boat as me.Thank you!!! God bless!

Hello! You should be golden! I just got accepted to Palomars Nursing Program for Spring 2014. I believe i had around 78 points. Letters of reccomendation help a lot. So, if there is anyone you know that is in the medical field definetly ask them to write you one. I applied to Mira Costa and did not submitt any LOR, and I did not get in. As for Palomar I got a couple of LOR from nurses and I got in. I am sure you will get in and good luck!

congrats jessriz! I'm actually in first semester at Palomar College...its going great and I absolutely love it! Idk my points going in, I never added them..but good luck sinta12!!

Sounds like we're in the same boat. I'm applying for Miracosta and for Palomar, taking my TEAS on Monday. Hope you get in!

Hi! Were you able to apply to MiraCosta and have you heard anything back yet? Do you know if they send you an e-mail if you didn't get in also? I also applied in february and am stressing myself out about it right now. I have a friend that said her son's partner just got into MiraCosta's nursing program, but I still haven't heard anything.

I'm on the same boat as you. I applied in February and haven't heard anything yet. How many points did you have?

Update: Did not make it into MiraCosta as they only took 20 people out of 200+. I had 78 points. 80% TEAS (didn't study much), B in Micro/A&P 101, other classes were A's, EMT license/experience, bilingual, financial aid, etc. Still crossing fingers for Palomar.

Update: I received an email yesterday stating that I have been accepted into Palomar! Would anyone commuting from the Menifee/Murrieta area be interested in carpooling?

I applied to both schools (first time around). I didn't get into MiraCosta but I did get into Palomar. However, I've decided to decline my spot at Palomar because I got into an accelerated BSN at CSUN that starts in summer 2014. Good luck to all! Remember, whatever is meant to be, will be!

I got accepted into Mira Costa for fall2014!!! Based on my calculations my points were at minimum 83 (thats without any life experience points) to 88 if I got all the life experience points. 4.0 on sciences, 3.6 on the others, 91 % on TEAS first try, associates degree and foreign language points. Good luck to all of you.

Hi Luckymomof5 and all Future Miracosta students.

I was just accepted to Miracosta for Fall 2014. I applied to 7 RN Programs up and down the state of California and I am currently in class to get my CNA/HHA in Bay Area at Santa Rosa JC.

Miracosta was the first one to accept me. I haven't stepped foot on the campus yet and I am dying to know more about their program. I spent a couple semesters at Grossmont College. Was planning to apply there, too, however they tell me they won't take my application without all three of my Hep B shots complete (I only have 2 done to date, 3rd will be done in July). I was bummed. I am impressed with Grossmont's facility, new classrooms, etc- so hoping Miracosta is just as good if not better.

LOVE Miracosta's small class size and 100% pass rate on NCLEX last year. Anyone have any more information?

Thanks!

Heading back to So Cal....

I just saw your reply beth2366! I will be attending in the fall at miracosta. I also love the class size and pass rate, but its the only program i applied for so even if it sucked, thats where i would be going lol. I hae been a student at miracosta for a long time now and love the school in general so I'm sure the staff and program are awesome! I look forward to meeting you!
