Pain management for liver chemoembolization patients

Published

I am interested in what other facilities are using for intraprocedure and immediate post chemoembolization pain and nausea control. At my facility we are using iv push medicaitons for nausea and pca narcotics for pian control. It just seems this is not enough for the immedicate two-three hour period post procedure. I am looking for other options to suggest to our physicians. Thank you for your suggions and or direction to resources.

We use Fentanyl and Versed intra-procedure and have a Morphine PCA that we start immediately post-procedure. Our patients are admitted for at least 24 hours post-procedure. For nausea we do Zofran IV push PRN.
