This is sorta of last minute but I notice PCN is broadcasting hearings on the nursing shortage at 8pm. They tend to repeat these things so I will let you know.

It is being repeated at 11:00 am today the 12th. You can check their daily line up on pcntv.com. Hope that helps a little..
Oh my gosh it was nearly 4 hours long. However, it really was quite comprehensive focused on the shortage of educators as well as bedside nurses. They did not have staff nurses testifying but with Bill Cruice from PASNAP(he is so attractive I think I got a crush) and representatives from PSNA and SEIU present the staff nurse message came accross. If they let everyone testify without first identifying themselves I could have guessed which people were the CNOs and other hospital representatives. They got a very familiar line of BS. I must admit some very progressive hospital managment people were testifying and when I compare them to the upper level managment people I have run into they really came off well. Would you believe they had some educator that just moved here from California and her very first recomendation was they shut down all it's Diploma schools in Pa. She said was instrumental in shutting down all the diploma schools in California. Good grief, the shortage is a thousand time worse out there than here and they bring the person who helped make the mess to Pa. My cable provider puts the PCN channel on 48 but that will vary from place to place. All in all I thought it really rocked, they had a copy of the report Karen posted and one of the State reps. actually waved it around and quoted from it.
