Anyone taking Organic Chemistry over the summer? I'm currently in an ADN program (2 more semesters left to go!!!) and I'm working on courses towards the BSN this summer. I figure the more I knock out now, the less I have to take after I get my RN :)
Organic Chem is way more difficult than I thought it would be. If it wasn't for Khan Academy, I think I'd be in tears doing my homework...LOL!
Anyone else taking Org Chem? Let's keep each other motivated!!!

I already took organic chemistry with lab (5 credits) on Fall 2013. It is not very hard as long as your basics of chemistry in high school are good. All the topics are extensions of what you learned in high school. Also, as long as you are good in manipulating basic mathematical questions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, ratios, algebra), you will be good.

I just finished it this spring so I can totally relate. Chemistnate and papapodcasts on YouTube had some very helpful videos!

I'm taking Intro Chemistry in summer school which is a fast track 8-week course. I Love youtube!!And I'm a visual learner, so videos, color, etc helps me to retain the information. Are you taking good lecture notes? What I do is write a chapter outline before class lecture, take in-class notes and later rewrite notes with questions I make up on the side of margin page.I learned all this from youtube. Hope this helps :)

I personally need to read the info, but have been using a site as a secondary source for inorganic chemistry.
I like that it has videos organized by topic, and some topics have two or more different lecturer's. If you find someone you like, you can click to their YouTube page.

UPDATE:
So I am on my second week of chemistry class. We had a test last Monday. At that time i didn't have the course book, studied for hours "so i thought" used my chicken scratch notes, youtube links and scored 70%. This past Monday we had our second test and I switched up my study habits...I bought the course book, used youtube links, did ALL the practice problems, wrote my notes in 3 columns: 1st column create questions, 2nd column wrote definitions 3rd column pictures/diagrams, memonics, etc. I also started using a study partner. I scored 75%. It's not an (A or B) grade yet, but I'm happy i've noticed a 5% improvement. Now for my test next week, I'm striving for at least a 80%. Ill keep everyone posted :)

I took ochem last year. Honestly, it wasn't that bad to me but I am biased because I loved chemistry.
What really helped was watching youtube videos. Papapodcast was a godsend when I was struggling with a particular portion. Maybe it could be helpful to you also.
Good luck and keep us posted.
We took our first exam last Thursday. I scored the highest grade and that was only an 86. We lost 8 students after that test. Our professor said there will only be 7 or so of us left by the end of the semester. What a TOUGH class!!!
So much memorization to cram in to such a short time frame. I find nursing school to be easier. At least, nursing courses make sense :)
Next week, we'll be halfway done!!!!

I took it at MSU and worked my butt off for a 3.0, I hear it is much easier at LCC so I hope you are taking it there.
Thanks, Geeheeb! I took it over the summer and got a 4.0 in it. Definitely was NOT an easy class, very difficult. But I slogged through it. Khan Academy was my best friend through it all
