OHSU ABSN 2013 Applicants

I didn't see a thread.....although it is quite early yet for some to be thinking about the upcoming application session. I am a senior at Marylhurst/PCC, will be graduating Spring 2013 and applying to OHSU, Duke, and John Hopkins this Fall.

Anyone current students that have advice? Anyone who just applied have any tips for the application? Anyone else applying?

Has anyone tried calling the admissions office to see if they can give any information on waitlisters? I need to put down a deposit on an apartment today, but if I don't get admitted, it changes things--like where I will be renting. I JUST NEED TO KNOW! :nailbiting:

I am currently listed as a "highly likely" candidate. I've contacted admissions by phone and email since being notified. I've told them I will be moving across the country early next week if I don't get pulled from the list before that date. It doesn't matter. They won't disclose any information of importance, but it does seem "highly unlikely" we will know anything before the end of this week. The red tape is thick my friends. It is nice to know they've at least made the distinction between alternates to some degree. I spent 5 months on that list last year with absolutely no idea of where I was. Regardless, I'm looking forward to starting a program soon and would be happy with my second choice. They really do put you through the ringer though. I do hear once you get into this secret society it's all worth it...

No news yet. I was just accepted to a program in the Midwest that has a really good schedule for my family situation (nights and weekends) ... so that is likely where I am headed :-)

Received a phone call around 11 am today: I have been accepted into the Fall cohort!! So excited to meet all of you and begin this journey! I can't wait to begin working as a nurse! :)

I am an alternate, but not in the "highly likely" category. I wonder if anyone has been offered a spot that does not fall into the "highly likely" classification. Thanks in advance!

The person who called me didn't give any information, she just said they would send a packet in the mail and that the call was purely just to let us know we'd been accepted. I was in line at starbucks when I got the call, so I didn't ask any questions...plus I was so excited I couldn't think of any! ha

congrats maddi13!! I know this was your only option (mine too cause I don't want to leave Portland), glad it worked out :)

I am coming from Provo, UT as I just graduated from BYU. Anyway, they didn't give me a deadline for the deposit; they simply told me they were sending me an admissions packet next week, so I assume that all of the information will be in that packet. But, if I hear anything else, I will let you know for sure. Good luck! Im sure you will get in soon!

Thank you wroblow!! Oh my gosh, I know! I was pulling into the Costco gas station and was so stunned, I didn't ask any questions! So excited! Congratulations to you, too! While we weren't accepted to the same cohort, I am sure we will meet someday! Good luck to you!
