Congratulations Oregon! You got an A!!

  1. The March of Dimes report card recently came out, looking at preterm birth rates by state. Oregon was one of 4 states that received an A, with a preterm birth rate of 8.1% or less. Oregon was ranked second lowest in the nation at 7.6%, behind only Vermont, which got 7.3%.

Worst states for preterm birth rates were all in the southeast - Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. Part of that is their much larger rate of African Americans, which have a much higher rate of preterm birth than other races.

U.S. preterm birth rate rose slightly in 215 | Ob.Gyn. News.
