Hello, I am a graduate nurse working in a Medical ICU in Rochester, NY. I really liked the idea of travel nursing when I graduated but I did not want to dive into it until I was more comfortable with my abilities. I now have this full time nursing position that I do not want to lose, but I still want to travel or pick up a second job. I am wondering what my options are. I also have an interest in a local second job at a spa or some sort of per diem or contract position I can incorporate into my full time schedule or work during my vacation time. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I have a friend in that area who does perdiem hospice for one of the bigger companies out there. When she is off, she tells them her schedule, and she carries a pager. She goes for the home visit. Works for her for supplemental income.
Thank you! That is a good idea, and I did not think about hospice care. I also spoke with some of the people at my work and they recommended taking my 4 weeks of vacation at once and doing a travel assignment. As much as I would like to relax on that vacation it would be nice to get paid by both jobs. I have a nice little student loan that would be great to have disappear. Does anyone else know of any other opportunities I should look into?
