Opinions from people who passed or preparing for nclex-RN from this state.
*What kind of material/book did you used & whether it helpful to you for test?
*How many questions did you do every day? How many questions you had in actual test?
*How many hours/day did you study?
*Do you suggest any online review specifically for illinois nclex-RN exam?

*what kind of material/book did you used & whether it helpful to you for test? i used saunders(3rd ed.), mosbys nclex comp. review, mosbys review cards, kaplans strategies, and nclex 3500. i did the whole book of saunders, read every chapter. kaplans was great b/c it taught you how to read the question and eliminate answers to arrive at the right one. mosbsys i just did questions out of it. i also used all of the cds.
*how many questions did you do every day? how many questions you had in actual test? i'm not really sure how many i did everyday. i would say well over 100, prolly like 200-300. i had 76 when i took the test and passed :)
*how many hours/day did you study? i never tracked it. i would do it for awhile and then take a break and then come back. i would say like 6 hrs a day if not more. some days less.
*do you suggest any online review specifically for illinois nclex-rn exam? my school required us to attend a review right after finals. it was helpful to a point.

I had a 3 part approach. #1 - general overview of class notes, #2 - general overview NCLEX book, #3 - solid questions
1 - Reviewed all of my final exam overview notes from each class
2 - Entire book of Exam Cram - very concise book, including doing the questions at the end of each chapter, then quick CD of question. Awesome overview. Their CD also gives good explanations for the answers to the questions as well. Any topic I was uncomfortable with, I would go back to my class notes/book to review that. Loved this book
3 - Saunders - fantastic CD. I used this last for pumping out a huge amount of practice on questions. I did questions until I scored at an acceptable level, and then until I felt comfortable. Skimmed the Saunders chapter for any area I was still poor in, but mostly focused on the CD. Loved this CD
I think I did about 1200 total questions or so. I had 75 on the NCLEX
*How many hours/day did you study? Probably around 6-10
*Do you suggest any online review specifically for illinois nclex-RN exam? the moderator of the NCLEX forum here has her own method which uses to help interested posters.
I'd highly recommend doing a overview of your class notes, and then a NCLEX topic overview before starting in on the questions. There is a certain method to answering the questions, but get a good foundation before starting those. Also, its a good way to refresh your memory on those topics you covered way back at the beginning of nsg school.
Good luck!
