reporting surgical malpractice to medical board of WI

  1. I am not a new grad or newly placed in the operating room, and have a problem which I am afraid may end my nursing career if I can't find a way to fix this. One of the surgeons in a small community hospital at which I am a travelling nurse has performed negligently and carelessly for the last several months. The hospital administration doesn't want any written record of the MULTIPLE unusual occurences, no sanction against the surgeon or any administrative support for the O.R. staff.
The nurses in the OR have been recording and reporting the instances-MANY-and no one is listening. I'm ready to go over their head and get somebody more important than I am to take this woman down.
PLEASE tell me if anyone knows how to start. We need to protect our patients from the potential harm-let alone possible DEATH- I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before it happens.
    old O.R.

I wound up going to the board of Nursing, who directed me to the board of medicine.

I didn't lose my job over it, and i only had to deal with her business partners' attitudes. They didn't know who had reported her, but they got over it eventually, once it was determined she was careless.
