I did not realize until watching the video on the TCC website that you have to take the TEAS before applying. For some goofy reason I thought you took it after you were accepted.
I took a TASP/THEA when I first registered for college. Is the TEAS pretty much the same thing? Just finding out weather or not you have basic knowledge?

OH - so I dont have to re-take the test then?? I took te TASP/THEA in 2004. It doesnt give me a set grade though - it breaks it down between writing (I got a 101), reading (80), Arithmatic (85), Alg (30) & Essay (5).

The TEAS test is the test that you have to take to get into the nursing program, not the test you take for placement at TCC. The TASP/THEA will not take the place of the TEAS. They are different tests. The nursing department looks at your scores on the TEAS test (especially the science and math sections), your GPA, and the number of prereqs finished for admission into the program. If you haven't taken the TEAS test, you will need to sign up to take it in order to be considered for the nursing program in January. The test covers reading, grammar, science, and math. The reading and grammar are very basic. The science covers A&P, chemistry, micro, physical science, and basic life science/biology. However, I thought that the majority of questions on the science part of the test covered physical science and basic life science. There were only a few A&P, chemistry, and micro questions. The math covered basic algebra, geometry, ratios and proportions, fractions, decimals, etc. There is a study guide for the TEAS test put out by the company that makes the test (ATI). Anyway, hope this helps. The test is not that hard. It's pretty basic. Good luck. :wink2:
:bowingpurGreat info! Thank you so much. I am starting Micro next month - so I guess after that class I'll sign up to take theTEAS.
let me correct myself then ...hit myself with a hammer and back out of this conversion...the thea/tasp are the same test as stated in the above post...i have no idea what i was thinking....
