Ah same here! Except I got even less than that. I recently applied for private loans in addition to my federal loans, but these are the ones that are approved through the school based on tuition expenses and I don't think I will get enough from that either....I need roughly $7000 more and I can't go to my next step until I hear from the school if I was approved for this amount. If this doesn't work, I have to resort to some of the BAD private loans...The ones that they send directly to you.

I am assuming that you start in January as well, so I am right there with you. I have limited time to get everything in order...

so you're going to apply to another loan buisness or bank? ya janurary for me too. lots of pressure!!

Try Salle Mae Loans. They have both Fed Loans and Priv. Loans. This is where I am going to go and get my loans from.

Well, from what I know, there are two type of private loans....the ones that you apply for based on credit and the money goes through your school, and the ones that you apply for based on credit that go directly to you. The ones that go directly to you are most costly to you in the long run. They tend to have higher interest rates and origination fees. I would prefer not to have to resort to this, but it looks like I might have to.

The private loan that I applied for is through the same lender as my Stafford loans. I used Chase for mine. I think all of the lenders have both types of private loans. Astrive loans would be an example of the bad one. I apologize for not having the correct terms for these loans! I know "the good one" and "the bad one" aren't the right terms! haha.

It should show on your lender's website. Who did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh and I got $12,000 of the $24,000 I was applying for...WTH?

Well I know Sallie Mae has assorted private loans. You should check it out. I used them the first time I got loans.

I don't want to get private loans either! :(

Yeah, I applied for $12,000 and I only got $4500. It's enough for my tuition, but I need money for living expenses since I won't be able to work much.

Oh man, I know you are upset too!..I can get a private loan thro my bank..I just didn't want 2 seperate loans. you know? $200 here...$200 there..just a pain. Just seems its not working out as smoothly as I hoped for.

Yeah, it may seem like a pain, but you would be surprised how many people do that. You can consolidate all of them when you graduate. That is what my boyfriend did with his loans, and he actually said it was very easy to do so. That's what I am doing. I am going to do what I have to do to get the money, and worry about it later! Plus you can get a better interest rate when you consolidate them at the end.

Oh I forgot about loan consolidation. I've never done anything like this..woo..thats a great idea! Thanks..thats what I'll probley have to end up doing too.

I hope it all works out! Looks like we are both in a race to get things in time. January 14th is so near! :uhoh3:
