UW BSN 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I'm applying for the UW BSN for next fall. This is my second time applying to the program and I really want to get in! I thought I would start a discussion so we can all help each other out since the application comes out this month and the essay questions are already out!

A little about myself:

-When I applied for this fall my nursing prerequisite gpa was a 3.0 and I retook one class and I believe now it is a 3.2 which isn't that great but they accept anywhere from a 2.4-4.0 for this fall so I am not too worried about that.

-When I applied for this fall I only had 120 healthcare experience hours and when I apply for next year I'll have well over 1,500.

-I'm also doing a study abroad program in maternal and child health in December before the app is due and this year i managed to get a job at Mary Bridge Children's hospital and recently got hired at Seattle Children's. I also got certified in neonatal resuscitation.

Thanks all! I can't wait to hear back and get some advice!

@NICURN2020 Can anyone help clarify how were suppose to upload transcripts? Do you order a transcript to your self and then scan it/upload it? Or are you suppose to order it to the university??

Ap93. I just had the colleges send official transcripts to me. Then I scanned the front and back onto the computer and attached them to application

How did you attach them to the application exactly? The sections of the application have only text boxes and no place to upload files/attach documents... I'm using google chrome if that makes a difference. Apologies for needing an in-depth answer to a seemingly simple question, lol.

I had the same question and emailed an advisor. You obtain an OFFICIAL transcript. They want that format. Scan document and upload it to your application. Go to profile and then Academic History. You can upload it here. Again, this is what I was instructed to do, but haven't done it yet. Good luck!

Got it. Thank you, Mpaige5!

I have a question regarding the letter of recommendation. When i last checked today my recommender hadn't uploaded my the letter yet however the link says that it is valid until January 25, 2018. Does this mean he can still submit it even though the deadline has passed? I can't find any clarification online since this is the first year that everything is happening online. thanks!

Hi everyone!

Ah now the waiting game begins. About me:

This will be my first time applying. I am in my late 20's and have been working full-time as an LPN for the past 6 years, currently at Swedish. I have gotten 4.0s in all my natural world classes except mico (I got a 3.8), but my overall gpa is pretty low at 3.0 due to a bunch of C's I made in my VPLA classes 10 years ago. For the reason, I am a little worried it might be too low for consideration. I did opt to do the optional statement and explained what was going on 10 years ago, how I have been working as a nurse the past 6 years while re-taking prereqs, etc, so hopefully that will help. I feel like my situation is pretty unique and it's just so hard to tell what's going to help me and what's going to really hurt me. Question: For the transcript upload, I took a picture of one of my transcripts and uploaded it instead of scanning. I could have sworn they said this was okay at the informational session, but now I'm second guessing it since everyone else seemed to have scanned it. Does anyone know if this is fine?

Good luck everyone!

@NICURN2020 Thanks for your help! I found out so last minute about the transcripts, I just had the official transcripts sent to the school...Ended up having to order them last minute, pick them up, and had them uploaded by 4:56pm on 1/16. OMGGG. thank you though for replying

@Cashlee Hey! Online it said you can scan or upload a high resolution picture and saved under JPG.

You are very welcome :)

From my understanding you had to have everything submitted by the deadline of 1/16 at 5 pm, including the letter of rec

Good luck everyone!! The waiting game begins! I hope everyone gets called for the proctored!! :)
