USFCA-Sacramento-Spring 2018 BSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all,

I decided to start this thread in order to communicate with others that have applied to the University of San Francisco spring 2018 BSN program at the Sacramento campus.

Also any advice from current students would be greatly appreciated like typical school day and clinical sites? I'm applying as a transfer with 3.8 GPA, 5 years of medical experience with direct patient care.

One last question, typically when do they start sending out notifications? I'm so anxious and excited all at the same time. Any input provided would be greatly appreciated.

I emailed them today as well and the response I got was that applications are in the final review process and that letters should go out around the end of the week. I also asked about the delivery method and was told that it may be a letter in the mail or letter and email. So same as everyone has been saying. I hope for the email because maybe I will know before the weekend is over.

This is agony! I have been checking the mail everyday (which isn't typical). Nothing today : ( I am hoping we here something sooner than later so we just have some resolution and can prepare either way. Thanks for your response from them.

Did anyone apply with online pre reqs? I talked to an admissions advisor and was told they will not accept any pre reqs that were done even partially online. Not even hybrid classes where part is online, she said it included general ed and the sciences. A little bummed I wont be applying because I am not gonna retake classes.

I did! Now I am even more terrified. I had never heard that and hope it isn't true. I have a bachelors degree and some of my classes were online. Obviously my science classes weren't online. But my child development was and my cultural anthropology.

I was surprised also and clarified with her because I knew some did not allow virtual labs but she said every time she has asked about it they said absolutely no online classes for any pre reqs. She said people ask about it a lot since online classes are common. Honestly I think it is an excuse to get people to pay to take more pre reqs with them.

Well I will let you know what happens. Do you mind giving me the name of the person you spoke with?

Her name was Christina Wilson. If all your classes were taken at one school I am sure they wont even ask. She only asked because due to moving I have gone to multiple schools for pre reqs.

Me too, but not because I moved.

OMG thank you for the information guys! I haven't been emailing Christina and Abigail lately, because I'm basically out of questions to ask LOL but the email or letter information really helps. Thank you.

@cjanmavsmom hello welcome to the forum and I'm sorry that your prereqs did not work out :( and now I'm nervous because one of my prereqs were taken online! >___

I've been checking this forum and my email religiously. @beautifull5 is lucky as she uses the finals to take her mind off of it, but I couldn't concentrate on my finals anymore! >__

You may not have any issues. I think she only asked about mine because there were quite a few different colleges. 3 apart of a consortium (Los Rios Colleges) and then 4 other colleges including one I am attending now. I started school in 2008 but quit to have my first daughter in 2010 and then started again in 2014 so she was having problems with my transcripts. She said it was really confusing due to there being so many over such a long period of time so we were emailing back and forth a bunch. I was trying to simplify them for her and then she asked. I took my sciences at 4 different schools so she asked if they were online. I did not want to lie so I told her a few general ed classes were completely online but my science labs were in person with online lectures. She said no part of the class for any pre req can be online but I did not see anything on their website so just lie low and dont mention it lol.

HI! I am jumping ship form the 2017 forum :) I too applied this round, but am not super optimistic of getting in. I still need a couple of the classes needed to graduate (philosophy, stats, english lit) Are any of your guys planning on applying to the JCs if you don't get in? I just scheduled my TEAS for Jan 15 and I am sooooo nervous! I have two B's and an A in my sciences (I was super impatient and took summer (8week) A&P while selling my house and moving with three kids under the age of 5 which was reflected in my grades) so I need to get a HIGH (in the 90s) score on the teas to even qualify now. I got a 86 on the HESI with only 3 days to study and not having taken micro at the time, but I have heard the HESI is way way easier than the TEAS.. :( It is super frustrating.... every counselor I talk to says they hate the point system and wish there was another way to choose. Anyways, if you are, where are you applying and what study techniques are you using?
