    Hi Grey Lady,

Then this means that not all of the statuses that were changed were acceptance? Thank you, this still keeps my hopes up.

It works out to between 2 and 3 applicants per seat available. That does not tell you much of anything because a significant percentage of applications are still out there incomplete and will probably be cancelled. There have been a very small number of rejections and wait lists so far. As crazy as it sounds, no news is good news at this point - if you are not rejected you are still under consideration.

What happens is that the status changes are done first as they are the quickest ways to get the information to the applicants. Once almost all are done, the admissions staff start to call the applicant to congratulate them on their acceptance, talk about orientation, and just generally answer questions. It takes a long time to make all those phone calls. A student is wait listed if they meet our requirements but just were not quite as competitive as other applicants. Keep in mind that not all of our offers will be accepted. When a student declines our offer of admission, we go to the wait list and offer that seat to someone on that list. Typically, about 15% of our students were waitlisted. Accepted students are given two weeks to accept our offer in writing and pay the $400 deposit.
so that's means for the accepted students we should wait for the phone call and the acceptance letter to pay the deposit fee?

    Hi Grey Lady,
I was just wondering when we could expect to hear the next round of acceptances??
    Thank you!

What you want is that letter so you can sign it and send it in to officially accept our offer. It's like a contract. They also need the $400 deposit. When admissions has both your acceptance form and the deposit, you are official and can start setting up school accounts, registering for classes, etc. You could get your letter before you get your phone call.

Just got back from work and dashed straight for my laptop; status still on committee ready. I'll update when it changes, we should please let everyone know when it does. Thanks

I hear UMSON has had over 500 applicants apply per cycle. GPA isn't everything to UMSON. They look at everything. Letters of Recommendation, volunteer/work experience, GPA both your science and cumulative, essays ect. I went to a BSN open house for the Baltimore Campus in the Spring. There was a student nurse panel to answer questions and one of the student nurses says she got into the school with a 2.89 GPA. She gave an explanation for why her GPA was low, did well in her sciences/on the teas, and made it happen. I myself got into nursing school with a 3.8 GPA cumulative, a 72 on the teas, but with extensive volunteering/medical/academic club experience. Be a well rounded candidate.

I have been checking the status since I got to work this morning....the whole day at work, on my cell phone, driving from work and to work. I'm checking status like crazy. I think I might have logged into SURF more than 20x just today.

Weekend was more or less the same thing. Knowing that there is nobody in the office I was checking during the wkend as well.

    Anxiety is killing me

Day's over and another awaits. And more anxiety. But on the bright side, since it's still committee ready there is still hope.

    Hi guys,
I've been following this thread since the email of decisions have been sent out. Congrats to everyone who got accepted. I am still on committee ready, and remaining neutral. The first week I was really freaking out checking constantly. But that did nothing, but bring on more anxiety and worry for me. For those who are still on committee ready as well. There really is not much you can do now, but to wait patiently for your decision. You have done all you can when you submitted your application.

What is meant to be yours will be provided to you.

    Good luck to everyone else!

Hello! I heard back and I got in I feel silly because I literally had a meltdown the night before thinking I wasn't going to get in. Good Luck to everyone who hasn't heard yet. Just remember what Grey Lady said, its not time to panic yet!
