Hello everyone! I am applying to TWU Houston campus Spring 2019. I have a 3.8 nursing core gpa! However, I did not do too well on the TEAS exam. In result, I am not able to apply for Fall 2018. I have a whole year to raise my chances into nursing school and gain more experience. Any recommendation of what to do? Currently I am fininishing my BS in community college before I graduate and during the summer I plan to volunteer at a hospital. I will work hard to get a higher TEAS score aswell.

Hey guys! I just took the TEAS exam this past weekend for the first time and got a 70% and I have a 3.6 GPA but I'm not even going to waste my time applying by Feb 1st. I purchased the whole kit from the ATI website which includes two practice exams and a study guide with quizzes and a study book that will be mailed to you. In my opinion, yes its pricey, but definitely worth it! I only had about 3 and a half weeks to study for the exam with a full time job which is why I believe I didn't get such a high score. I will be retaking it this year with much more time to study and hopefully apply by Feb 2019. I recently bought the mometrix TEAS study guide as well because I heard great things about it. If anyone has questions let me know! :)

Are you applying for the traditional or weekend/evening program? Also I am using the Mometrix study guide right now and I like it. :)

Hey everyone I applied for the Fall 2018 program but if I do not get in I will be applying to the Spring 2019 program.

My overall TEAS score was an 89.3

My nursing GPA was a 3.72

My overall points on the excel sheet were 46.97 points.

So I am gonna give you guys a few tips that I wish I knew before I applied. Since I already went through the whole process of retaking classes, taking the TEAS, retaking the TEAS, and actually applying I think this would be very helpful to you guys.

I would recommend everyone to take the TEAS exam ahead of time just in case you need to retake it, like take it ASAP.

I used the Teas study guide which is very helpful, but I also used the Teas app that has practice questions, and I went much more in depth in the science portion than the book did.

I also went online and found a website that helps with the English section called niu.edu, just search for effective writing practices tutorial in their search bar.

And another website that helped with the reading section I searched in the google bar, Entryways into College Reading and Learning and there will be an option for a website called highered.mheducation. The practice questions there are good.

I also recommend to meet with a TWU NURSING advisor so they can calculate your points and tell you what you need to work on. DO this ahead of time because sometimes they get booked like a month in advance.

I also recommend you calculate your own points and just mess around with the excel sheet to see what you can retake or what you need to score on Teas to get a certain amount of points.

Hope this helps!

rnpriis,

THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE! It is greatly appreciated. I will be applying for Spring 2019 as well. Are you in Dallas or Houston? I honestly think that regardless of what area you're in, we could all help each other.

Your welcome I hope it helps! I am applying to the Dallas campus since I live close to downtown Dallas even though it is more competitive. Moving isn't really an option for me.

Greetings, future nurses!

There is a new version of the Prerequisite Worksheet available on the TWU Nursing Website. The link to both the worksheet and updated instructions can be found at the very bottom of the BS in Nursing and BS in Nursing Weekend/Evening websites.
