TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

I studied from the same book and got a 96. I don't think it was difficult really and the book was a great representation of the actual test.

Hello Pam,

Nice to meet you. I found your post in the old forum of TWU 2013 applicants. I must say you have amazing GPA & test scores! I know you mentioned with the 2/4 attempt A's, did you talk to TWU advisor about it? They don't weight out your Teas scores with the 2A's attempts? It seems like everyone is saying the attempts and Bachelors are the most important. I feel devastated after knowing you got on waiting list with 96 on Teas, because I am no where near a 96. Let me know what you think, Thanks in advance!

Yeah, the first attempts and having a previous Bachelors weigh the heaviest for admissions. Don't worry if your TEAS score isn't super high, if you have more than 2 first attempt A's, you should be ok. :)

I retook a few classes this semester to boost my GPA s bit more and get the TWU bump so hopefully it's enough to get me in this time since I was so close last time. Trying to stay positive. :)

Thank you for the encouragement! I think you have a great chance getting in for 2014. your GPA and Teas are nearly perfect. They should be able to balance it out with 2/4, i mean it's something you can't change. Btw, I just received my ID number for TWU and got into Pioneer port.. and i heard you have to apply to TWU on their website after applytx? When i click on the link it says only for students that are official accepted to TWU. The fee is $30.. but i was told i should do this so that TWU can receive my application. I am confused...

Hello smak1013,

Wow, I applied for UT last semester, but I got rejected because my hesi scores. PV put me on the waiting list last semester because I was still taking two classes. I went to PV today, and took all my papers, but they told me that we need three letters of recommendation and I just took two. Sam Houston, I do know because I did not see them in the Texas Board list. I believe they are going to be accreditated in this year(check one more time their program);however I think it will be easy to get in there because their program is new. I am crossing my fingers to PV because I want to finish my stress over this. For TWU I need to take the TEAS, but to be sincere, that test seems impossible, my Hesi scores were not that good and its an easier test, so imagine the TEAS I dont know if I will pass it. They said that is easier to get in UTMB, but it is to far for me and also I have a family. Can you give me some advice for the TEAS? I really want to pass it...Thank you

To be honest, I thought the TEAS was easy and when I got my scores I got a 76! And a 60 on the science! I was heartbroken, but I did get on the waitlist for Utmb. I have a 3.5 GPA. I mean, there's a lot of chemistry and physics on it and the HESI is more Bio based. O hated the TEAS but I'm gonna retake it. And 3 recommendations for PV?! Man, I don't even know 3 professors willing to vouch for me. Tell me if you want more info, or just message me (:

Yes you have to first apply to TWU and be accepted. Then you pay a separate application fee to apply to the nursing program on your Pioneer Portal.

So you are saying it's like a two step thing? Do you know what is the turn around time to be accepted to TWU? It cannot be end of October because thats when students know if they get in nursing program.. right? They say that the deadline is Sep1, is that when i have to submit my Pioneer application too? Sorry about the confusion and thanks alot for helping!!

Yes, it is like a two step thing. Have you already applied to TWU through ApplyTexas? It normally only takes a few weeks after you get all your transcripts sent in. The deadline for nursing is September 1, yes. So you'll have to be accepted into TWU and have applied to the nursing program on your Pioneer Portal before then.

Yea i am done with ApplyTexas, and just finished register with Pioneer Portal but when i try to apply to TWU nursing program, it says for student that is official accepted only. So i can't apply on Pioneer yet..So once they get our transcript they will determine if we are accepted to TWU as general student first then we apply to nursing program on Pioneer portal? I am worried because we only have 6 more weeks and i have not yet register for nursing program at TWU atm.

Don't worry. You should get an acceptance letter soon. When did you send in your transcripts?

Yeah, I applied last year...I took classes this past Spring so I could have the TWU preference (where you take 32 prerequisite hours at TWU)
