TWU Nursing Applicants - Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

I am applying for the Fall of 2019! I am currently taking Nutrition, Micro, Chemistry, and Psychology! (I really know how to pile it on haha) I have not taken the TEAS yet. I'm thinking about taking it early January, but I'm not sure yet!

I am applying to be apart of the nursing cohort for Fall 2019. I'm joining this forum to communicate with other applicants and to be kept up to date.

I will also be applying for the fall...i will be applying to the evening/weekend program

Hello everyone. I will also be applying for Fall 2019 evening/weekend program. I also plan on applying to UTA's AOBSN program. Anyone else applying to another program? I haven't taken my TEAS yet, and was just wondering how far in advance we should plan to take the TEAS? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

crtzadri, I would highly suggest you buy a TEAS review book with practice tests. Read the book (the whole thing) take a test, see your score and then go back over the book and review what you missed. This was incredibly helpful for me (I scored a 91). Lots of A&P!! Also take it as soon as possible that way you have time to take it again if needed as you must wait 30 days in between tests. Good luck, it's not as bad as you think!

Also, I will be applying for the traditional BSN program for Fall of 2019. So glad someone made a forum!

Hi everyone,

I am also applying for Fall 2019 (Traditional). Looking forward to this process with you guys and wishing everyone the best of luck. I have not taken the TEAS, yet. I'm planning to do it at the end of November. That way, if I don't score as high as I'd like I can retake late Dec. or early Jan. I am also looking into UTA BSN program either Online/Traditional, still undecided on which. Any pointers anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

I thought about applying to UTA but i heard, not sure how true it is, they give alot of preference to people who are "partnered" or attended UTA, and besides i personally need an evening program since i work during the day

Hi everyone! I will also be applying for Fall 2019 admission for the night and weekend program. I am taking my last 2 classes this semester and plan to take the TEAS in December. I am not planning to apply to any other programs because I work full time and plan to continue working. Happy to meet you all!

Yes current UTA/TWU students always get preference points over trandferring students. And I've heard that too, as far as, the "partnered" goes. However, I am partnered and did email them and they sent me back an attachment email regarding what Hospitals are partnered and a bit more info on that too. The email made It seem that partnered and unpartnered applicants are place in 2 different applicant pools so, maybe the partnered/unpartnered are competing against their own pool? if that helps Here's what it said...

"As stated on the AO BSN admission brochure, applicants must meet all application eligibility requirements and are ranked based on the criteria stated. Employment at a partner hospital is not a guarantee of admission into the upper-division AO BSN program.

If your status changes from partnered to non-partnered, applicants will be moved to the un-partnered applicant pool and your ranking status is subject to change. If your partner hospital system status does change, contact UT Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation by e-mailing [email protected]."

P.S. I did email them asking them more details on partnered vs. unpartnered I'll keep you guys posted. Hopefully, this may help someone else (not needing an Evening program) and just need more options to apply at different schools.

Thanks for the info...I'm currently retaking A&P 2 and Stats to boost my B's to an A and I've already taken the TEAS. The application cycle for Fall 2019 has opened in NursingCas for TWU so i plan to start my application soon since we have to send our transcripts to both TWU and NursingCas

Hello guys! I'm thinking about applying to TWU School of Nursing in Houston. I'm about done with all of my pre-requisites and I just took the TEAS about 3 weeks ago.

Overall: 86

Reading: 80.9

Math: 96.9

Science: 91.5

English and Language Use: 66.7

It's funny because I took two practice tests through ATI and received an 86 on both A/B practice tests, talk about consistency. I was upset though, because the English part really brings me down. The TEAS performance profile says I'm in the 99 percentile. Should I retake my TEAS?

Overall GPA: 3.52

Pre-Req GPA: 3.635

Nursing Core GPA: 3.840

TWU Sheet Score: 43.47

I'm 19, I have no initial Bachelor's degree, I've been volunteering for over a year at the TMC. Should I retake my TEAS to bring up my English category and possibly my OVR? I'm also thinking of applying to UTMB. I haven't taken the HESI, but will apply to UT-Health.
