Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

Hi guys!

I'm applying to the ADN program at Cyfair as well as UTHSC. I was waitlisted for the summer but hoping I can get into either program for the spring. Total points: 7.664

HESI Score: 91.6

AP-96

Reading-94

Grammar-92

Math-90

Vocab-86

CT- 830

I plan on retaking the HESI soon. Has anyone retaken the exam? I'm wondering if the AP section has similar question topics or is completely different.

I retook the hesi and mine was similar to the first one I took. However, I took them only 60 days apart so I don't think I gave them much time to change it. I hear the hesi exam changes all the time though. How long ago did you take it?

And tbh you'd get into Cy-Fair with the score you have now! Did you apply for lone Star last semester or will this be your first time applying here?

Thanks for letting me know! I took it last September so it's probably completely different now. This is the first time I'm applying to Lonestar. My first choice is UTH or TWU but I haven't studied for the TEAS and the deadline is soon :/

After I finish at lone Star I want to bridge over to the UTH rn-bsn online program. I just need to start working ASAP and I only have half of the prerequisites I need for my bsn :( but I will be applying to lone star Cy-Fair as my first choice! I heard last semester the number 1 applicant had a 7.8 and the lowest was a 7.2. If you have over a 7.6 you should get in your first choice with no problems!

Since you only have to submit your quantitative titer to apply, I would maybe get that done first and see where you stand.

Fingers crossed we get in! :) Have you looked into the Early Decision Program at UTH? As long as you haven't completed the minimum pre-reqs needed to apply AND you complete one semester of ADN courses at Lonestar/HCC courses then you qualify to apply.

Yes I have, actually. That is my plan!

I don't understand this, but I did look! So you are or are not supposed to have all the pre Reqs done?? So confused when I read it

No. You are not suppose to have the prerequisites done when applying for early decision. If you have them all done they would rather you just apply for the normal application period.

Ohh okay that makes sense. Thanks!

So, for the score sheet, the part that asked about English and A&P, anyone know how that works?? Is it the points you earned toward your GPA? Both classes got a B, so thinking about retaking one, but idk which!?

It averages the GPA for only the A&P and ENGL class. So if you got a B in both classes your score would be a 3. Then take your average of your HESI and divide that by 25 and that will be the other half of your score. If I were you I would retake engl. I retook it in Summer I And it was super easy, I made an A. The average score that gets accepted into ADN is above a 7. Some get accepted with less than 7 but it's off the alternatives list. You may still have time to catch up on a summer II class. I'm not sure you may want to call an advisor.
