SCC/ARC/San Joaquin Delta/Butte/Sierra Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello fellow pre nursing students!

I just wanted to start a thread for those applying to these said above schools for Fall 2018! This will be my first time applying for nursing school and I am stoked! I was also thinking about applying for Chamberlain as a last resort because of the price, but I wanted to try for all of these ADN programs first! I'm wondering how many points everyone has. Even though these schools are lottery system I am encouraged because I know many people that got in on their first try!!

Is there a reason to turn in app last minute?? I turned it in first day...maybe it less of a wait.if you turn it in late

I know it doesn't technically matter, just curious :-) trying to pass the time and whatnot.

I think it will be less apps but the same amount of students in the pool...i seen points from 35-65 in previous years...so that won't happen anymore...but 70+ will be the same amount of students almost every year

No people are just procrastinators so they wait till last days of feb

Of these schools, the only one I'm applying to is SJDC. I am applying with 88 points. Also, I'm not sure about those other schools, but I think your OP mentioned they are lottery. This is not entirely the case at Delta. It's mostly a points/merit based app, offers based on highest points, with about 10% of applicants drawn by sheer lottery. With that many schools, I wish you the best of luck to get in, and I'm sure you will!

Mine is getting turned in later because I am out of state so I am mailing it. Many of my pre reqs were at out of state colleges so I had to wait for my transcripts and tomorrow I will be mailing them all out. Is anyone else also applying for the LVN program at SCC? I figured it was worth a shot in case I don't get in anywhere else and maybe has better odds?

Apply for the LVN. I did it as a backup as well (last year). I applied to both SCC LVN and RN program, and got denied for the RN but accepted to the LVN. I was also denied by ARC and Butte (RN) and I was waiting on Sierra to respond. Well I found out I got accepted to the LVN program, turned in my acceptance, and then a week later I got into Sierra. It honestly doesn't hurt to do it.

Thanks, I ended up applying to ARC RN, SCC RN and LVN. Although Im a little panicky because I think I may have missed a number when I wrote my student ID number on my ARC and SCC LVN apps. I mailed off the SCC RN one last and caught the mistake but had already sent the other two. Do you think that would mess anything up? I am super nervous and keep thinking something small I missed will make me ineligible so I am stalking my eservices for changes to my application.

Todd94, and anyone else who can answer this question; which of our local schools require to apply to the school itself before applying and which ones can you apply straight to the program? I guess I should order 10X all my transcripts now so I never run out!

Sierra is the only local one I'm aware of that you don't need to apply to the school before applying to the nursing program... unless it changed this application period as they changed their application process. Just be aware that ARC's and SCC's (and I think Butte) application period has ended for this semester already.

Thank you for your response! I'm actually stalking the current threads trying to get a feel for the lotteries this year (I will be applying next year). Since I must first be an enrolled student, would you suggest meeting with a councilor at each school well in advance to get a feel for their system? I think ARC requires that anyway.

I received my acceptance to Sierra College RN program today at 2:10pm! Check your emails everyone! This was my first time applying, I am beyond grateful!!!
