Sam Houston State - Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

As I was going through looking for threads of the programs I plan to apply for I didn't see one for SHSU Spring 2019 so I decided maybe I would go ahead and start one!

I am currently finishing my associates of science and associates of humanities from Palo Alto College in San Antonio where I currently live, then will hopefully have everything in line for SHSU application when it opens up.

I do still have to take my TEAS exam which I have scheduled for June 27, I am so nervous about cutting a great score to help with my chance of admission, especially since I won't have the extra point for being a SHSU student.

I'm excited to hear from others who will be the applicant pool as well and hopefully we'll be starting our nursing journey together, good luck to everybody!!!

Ugh mine says the same "pending review" I am a nervous wreck! Lol

Mine says pending review too. But I doubt Ill get accepted since after I got my HEP B titer I found out that I had to get the whole series again. So far Ive only received the first dose. And I wont be finished with the third until around February. :/ But Ill be applying again for the fall!

I think you should be okay! My results for heb B were borderline, weird I know :/ but when I called to ask about it they said as long as I am in the process of getting them again and show my records, it should be okay! As long as you have received the 3 doses before.

Hey guys! I also applied for the Spring 2019 semester. I'm a former SHSU student, graduated in May with a B.S. in Biology and 93 credit hours taken at Sam so hopefully that will help me out with my application. Here are my stats:

Pre-Nursing GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 3.95

TEAS Math: 97%

TEAS Reading: 89%

TEAS Overall: 90%

Only thing I'm worried about is if I'm accepted how much financial aid will cover since I will probably stop working. Anyone know any good housing near the campus?

Your fantastic scores combined with being a SHSU student will surely land you a seat I imagine, very impressive!

I just moved to the area myself with my children and husband so I am of no help in the housing area unfortunately. Financial aid after receiving your first Bachelor's can be tricky sometimes I've heard, but hopefully it'll work out for you! :D

Does anyone know when emails should start going out?

I thought I had read on the website we should know within 45 days of applications closing but now I can't seem to find it. Others have stated we should know within a month of the deadline so that's what I'm hoping for.

I'm curious as to if acceptances are sent out all at once of if they are sent it different waves.

Hi everyone ! I'm applying for the spring Semester as well! Stats: Nursing GPA 3.85 Overall GPA 3.63. TEAS Math - 100% TEAS Reading - 86%. My scores are not perfect but I hope it's competitive enough to get me in! I have a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F Austin State University as well. I'm super anxious about decisions, but was told by the nursing advisors that we will have our decisions no later than 30 days after the application closes so we have two more weeks of anxiety !!! I also applied to UTHealth in the med center and prairie view a&m. So hopefully I get in somewhere!!!

That's great that they confirmed we should know within the month! Although I would be absolutely okay with decisions coming out sooner, haha.

I also applied to UTHealth, we'll be waiting a while for those decisions :/

Which school is your first choice? Best of luck to you and welcome to the forum!! :)

2 more weeks?! Last year the first round of acceptance letters went out today!!! This is terrible haha

Right?! I'm not gonna lie, I've been checking my account in the off chance they'd follow the same trend this year. :nailbiting:

Sam is my first Choice!!! I would love to get into UT, but I have a one year old baby and a two year old toddler so I'm not sure how stellar I would do at an accelerated nursing program chasing after my little ones LOL. Also even with traffic it's only 30 minutes away from my house! I wanted to apply to TWU but I missed the deadline, so here I am lol ! Wbu?
