Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

At this time I have no clue!! I emailed and asked about these 2 courses they said I could test out of. I have asked numerous times about needing "12" classes and testing out of 2, bringing the # to 10. The 12 classes I listed on the other page were form the unofficial evaluation they did and it stated what classes I required.....it made no mention of the human/cultural geography and the Substance course. Normally they respond pretty quickly to my emails, so they may be off today

hmmm, I wonder about that. I don't see how on earth cultural geography CLEP would do a thing for the required courses left. Guess we'll see!

I wil be pretty ticked off if I actually require 14 classes, as all long they have told me 12. We shall see. They are an hour behind me, so will be a bit yet before I hear back

No, more likely you DO need 12, but none of the 12 are ones you can test out of. Willing to bet the link you were sent was a mistake.

Well the final # best be 12,lol as all along they have stated all I require is 12 classes to complete my BSN..still no email from them!! Guess I shall phone

Clear as mud!! long story short--I require a ttl of 12 classes!! BUT I do require HLT 306 and 308--which is part of that 12. The classes that I took that were similar to HLT 306 & 308 but they called them lower curriculum level, long story short I can test out of them--it is not called CLEP, but it is called DSST. I did manage to meet the criteria for NRS 427 & 437, so they are off my course list!! So my 10 Nursing classes required are:

NRS-451V Nursing Leadership and Management Aug 25, 2014 (O101)

NRS-441V Professional Research Project Jul 21, 2014 (O103)

NRS-440V Trends and Issues in Today's Health Care Jun 16, 2014 (O103)

NRS-410V Pathophysiology and Nursing Management of Clients' Health May 12, 2014 (O101)

HLT-310V Spirituality in Health Care Apr 07, 2014 (O101)

NRS-433V Introduction to Nursing Research Mar 03, 2014 (O106)

HLT-362V Applied Statistics for Health Care Professionals Jan 27, 2014 (O109)

NRS-434V Health Assessment Dec 09, 2013 (O101)

NRS-429V Family-Centered Health Promotion Nov 04, 2013 (O101)

NRS-430V Professional Dynamics Sep 30, 2013 (O101)

Plus HLT 306/308 which I can test out, or just take the courses. So all is well!! She had seen my email, and was about to get back to me. Normally they are very good at that, and really it was not that long as I sent the email less than 24 hrs ago! Time to get my head around APA format again! Just back from Spanish classes, so my widdle male brain is fried!

Those 12 are the same ones everyone seems to take, including me. I know those that have done stats can take another class, but it seems 12 is the magic number.

What about ethics? I think your last two classes are switched. The Capstone is the last class with leadership before that one.

What about ethics? Ethics is after research. I think your last two classes are switched. The Capstone is the last class with leadership before that one.

I had not even looked at the dates, lol as I will probably be taking a few breaks along the way--thanks for the heads up

I wonder why ethics isn't on your plan? That seems odd unless you have taken it before.

Yes I have---thats NRS 437 that transferred over. Recall disliking the professor--glad I stuck it out,lol

I'm in class 5 of 11 (Statistics) easy, but what to talk about in the discussion forums?

(boring)
