National University SD Cohort 55 - July 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

I am applying to the BSN program at national this month & wanted to start a feed to see if there's anyone else out there applying/preparing for TEAS, etc!

I did mine to start on middle of June. I believe April was a typo

Ok, thanks!

Does anyone know the official start date of the program

Has anyone created a cohort 55 facebook page? It's an easy way to get in contact with everyone. As I understand it, our schedules are going to be kinda flexible with clinicals starting early and the option for us to swap between each other to accommodate our schedules.

You can only swap 48 hours after the schedule comes out, and you can't change again after you swap with someone. It's up to you and you only to find someone to swap classes with.

To my fellow alternates:

Has anyone received an email yet with further instructions? I know the first email we received said to expect something after April 13 so I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten anything.

Hello,

I was just accepted into both NU's Cohort 55 and CSUSM's Fall Cohort... I really am having a tough time deciding. What are the pros and cons of each school (i.e. Cost, start date, prestige, location, etc)? Which would you choose?

Thanks for the help!

I emailed Elizabeth she said their is no follow up letter. We will get our acceptance letter at the same time as the Cohort 56 applicants.

Okay that puts me more at ease. Well let's enjoy our summer because before we know it October will be here. :) See you next cohort.

I was originally interested in acceptance at CSUSM because it appeared to me to have a bit better of a reputation. That being said, I have found that National's reputation is better than I had previously thought. Overall, I am not sure anymore which is more highly regarded.

After looking at both schools I found that if you don't already have a bachelor's degree it is substantially cheaper to go to CSUSM because it is a state university. However, If you are going for your 2nd bachelor's degree, you are attending through their extended learning school and the cost is actually double, which comes out to costing a bit more than National University.

Also, it is only the spring cohort (the one that starts in January) that attends school at the CSUSM campus and performs clinicals in SD county. Both the summer and fall cohorts (which it sounds like is one you have been accepted to) have classes at the CSUSM campus in Temecula. Because of this, your clinicals can be assigned in both the southern OC area and any place in SD county. For example, you can be assigned to work somewhere in Riverside or Irvine on one day and then maybe Chula Vista the next.

I was personally informed of the cost at an info session I attended and I was told by a girl in one of my classes, whose boyfriend was in the fall cohort at CSUSM in 2017, about the school and clinical locations. I hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that National University's classes are in Rancho Bernardo and the clinicals are all performed in SD County.

Hey! I have my essay/teas on Monday and was wondering if the teas is the computerized version that you get your results back immediately. Thanks in advance!
