Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to make this post to connect with others who will be applying to Mt. Sac's program for the Spring of 2019. After calculating my points for the multicriteria screening I'm currently at 52 points before the Hesi. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi on the 31st. Really hoping to end up with 77-80 points, I've read that the cutoff is usually around 77 points so I'm praying that will be the case this year as well. Although I saw a comment on the Fall 2018 thread & someone got in with 72 points as an alternate. I'll also be applying to Chaffey, San Bernardino Valley & .

Good luck everyone!

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

Hope a member from this program can provide advice. Best wishes for a smooth nursing journey.

Hi!

Funny I started the exact type of thread but thought I would say hello and I am in the same position as you. I take the HESI on the 31st as well so only 5 more days of studying....I am slightly freaking out about it. I definitely hope I get a high score as well as it will put myself in a better position. I am applying to PCC, GCC and Rio Hondo. Have you started on the application? I figured I would wait after the HESI and talk to a counselor as well about everything before I submit. Good luck on studying and applications!

Hello!

I didn't even realize someone had made a post about it already. I'm freaking out about the Hesi as well I'm constantly reviewing the material. Hopefully we both do really well! I have not started the application yet as I wanted to get the Hesi out of the way first. All the documentation that Mt. Sac requires us to be turned in with the application?

Good luck to you as well!!!

Hi, just have to keep reviewing until the big day! I hope we both do really well too!! As for the application I know that you have to submit everything through PDF when you fill out your application. Unofficial transcripts will do and once applications close and they notify you during acceptance time then you make an appointment with the counselor and bring your official transcripts to verify everything. hope this helps.

Hi!

How did it go!?

I fell short :(

The math portion got me. I kid you not half of my math questions were conversions & my mind must have jumbled & confused the relationships :'( I got an 81.2 I needed an 82% to put me at a 77 points. I know there's basically no way I'm getting in. I applied anyways and I guess we shall see. Hopefully the applicant pool isn't too competitive for this upcoming spring & I'll be an alternate.

Hello!

It went ok for me, I felt disappointed cause a lot of things that I studied for didn't see like it was on the test. I didn't do well on the grammar and got a 84%. The math was hard for me too but maybe I was getting anxious and kept making mistakes. Luckily, I had time so I made sure I redid the problems a couple times if the numbers weren't matching. I don't know where I would fall in terms of points but I hope I get in as well since this was my number 1 choice. We just have to apply and wait, I think I am going to make an appointment with a counselor to see where I fall in terms of GPA and stuff. Are you almost done with your application? Let's hope for the best!

I'm right there with you!

Grammar & reading comp were actually my best subjects & Anatomy & Physiology was way more in depth than the books I studied from.

It's been pretty quiet compared to other years threads. Here's to hoping it'll be a quiet & less competitive term to apply. I actually just finished scanning all the documentation & I submitted my application already. Mount Sac is about 30 minutes from my house so it's my 3rd choice. I Love the campus though so obviously I would love to get in! Yes here's to hoping for the best í ¾í´ží ¼í¿¼

Hi! I'm sorry to hear about you being so close to that 77! I'm thinking it's not as competitive as it used to be before so I'm hoping you get chosen as a candidate or even an alternate!

I'm taking my HESI exam this Thursday, the 2nd! What exactly was on it? Any tips?

And when you guys sent in your documents, did you scan them and then use them as a PDF? Did any of you guys use the BOG Fee Waiver as proof for low family income, and if so, what did you use to prove that?

Hoping for everything to work out in the end for everyone! I hope to see you all in Spring 2019 :)

For those who have taken the HESI were you provided a calculator for the math portion

And for science section were there biology chemistry and physics questions

Hello! Thanks for joining the chat!

Thank you, at this point I am just hoping for the best.

Best of luck! My best advice to you is to really focus on Math & A&P. Grammar, Vocab, & Reading comp in my opinion were Very straight forward. For math no calculators are provided or allowed. Memorize the conversions in the study book you will absolutely need them. Remember to simplify all your answers & know how to convert from fraction to decimal, decimal to percent etc.

Chemistry, Biology, & Physics was excluded from the exam. Not tested on it.

& I printed and scanned my financial aid award letter from Mt. Sac as my financial need documentation.

Hope that helps!

Best of luck. You got this.

Hello!

No calculators.

& no the test for Mt. Sac doesn't consist of any of those subjects.

All that is on it is

A&P

Math

Grammar

Vocabulary

& Reading comprehension.
