FIU ABSN 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone. I have not seen a thread for FIU's ABSN 2018-2019 program so I figured I would start one. If anyone wants to share their stats/ volunteer history please do!

Hoping all applicants could get to know each other prior to the start of the program and we can start a facebook group upon acceptance.

I applied last week so fingers crossed.

Good luck everyone!

Overall and prereq GPA: 3.46

Teas: 92.7

I have a LOR for work experience but could not submit my volunteer hours.

I currently volunteer in Neuro at Children's.

Hey everyone!

Glad I found this forum. Patiently waiting for interview day to arrive. Today I had my interview for FAU's ABSN, and I think it makes me feel a little more prepared for FIU's interview but I'm still nervous. Does anyone know how many applicants they are interviewing for this cohort? I know they only accept 30.

Cant wait to meet all of you soon!

Hey everyone!

I just had my interview with FIU this week! I recently got accepted into UM's program as well. I am on the fence about which one to attend, should I also get into FIU. The cost alone is encouraging since UM's program is 40k. Did anyone else interview this week with FIU?

I interviewed as well last Monday. I think it went well and now I'm impatiently waiting for the emails to be sent out to see if I get in....

Anybody hear anything yet?

Hey! Just got a letter of acceptance from FIU. Have you thought anymore on your decision? I am struggling between the two as well. Everyone is saying the 40k isn't worth it, but that simulation hospital seemed like a great learning environment. Very hard to decide right now

I'm on the same boat. I work with many nurses and they all have said the 40k is not worth it for a BSN. Many have told me that it may make more sense to go to UM for a Master's program since it is more specific to your specialty. But a BSN is very generalized. In addition, both programs are exactly the same. You are just paying for the fact that's a prestigious private school. FIU also has a simulation lab. Not sure if it's as nice as UM's but it's there.

I got put on the waitlist :(

I think I've made my decision to go to FIU. Trying to figure out the best way to let UM know. I PMed you with my e-mail address if you want to communicate directly. I'd love to get to know everyone before we start, maybe through a Facebook group. Have you seen or heard from anyone else who was accepted?

It's not over yet! There are other people trying to make the decision between one school and another. I wouldn't give up hope! Fingers crossed for you!

I also decided to go to FIU. I'm sad about letting UM go but I think it's the best choice in terms of costs. And it is a very good program. I'm trying to figure out how to let UM know too. I had to pay their deposit...I'll send you my email too! I know some other students who got in as well. Also someone that was in the same situation with UM.

Hey so I got accepted! Super excited. See you all soon.

Hi! I'm wondering how those of you who are enrolled in the FIU AOBSN program feel about the program so far? @Veenusasagirl @catek @gabs1103

I've submitted my application for Spring 2020 and am anxiously awaiting an admissions decision! Any info you can share regarding your experience in the program would be appreciated!

Thanks!
