FALL 2019 CSUB Nursing

Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone.

I am getting extremely anxious since time is of the essence.

I want to get into Cal Sate Bakersfield as a Nursing Major.

[However, I am thinking of another strategy to get into Nursing. I am thinking of getting in as a Psychology or Kinesiology major and changing it by the next application deadline]

Would that be even possible to do?

My Stats:

Prerequisite GPA: 3.5 (I haven't added + or - because my school does not give them)

Science/ Math GPA: 3.61

TEAS score: I am not sure

I just moved to Kern County as a resident (under my parents)

I am not sure if my Behavioral Therapist job would count as paid health care experience.

I do need financial aid so that would apply to being Economically disadvantaged.

I haven't taken the TEAS test yet since the CSUB TEAS does not open until the Fall. I am hoping to take it and get an 87. (It's a reach I know) Does anyone have suggestions on how to study for it? What were/ are your stats?

The ATI website has books you can buy or you can buy them used online. Do the practice questions.

Also, why can't you get into CSUB as a nursing major? Why would you need to get in under a different major and switch...just curious.

continuing CSUB students get points added to their application. Which is why I thought getting into CSUB as another major and then applying to the nursing program might increase my chances of getting accepted.

I don't see anywhere in the Scoring Guide that says that if you switch your major, you will get points. Or maybe I'm reading it wrong.

If you have doubts, you should ask someone from the nursing program.

Hi! I am on the same boat as you as well. I only have Micro left which I will be taking in the Spring.

So my predicted stats are (based on the prereq scoring guide):

Prereq GPA: 3.61

Science/Math GPA: 3.63

Both of which assuming I get an A in Micro of course! As for the TEAS, I'm still undecided whether I should take it next month or by November as I have things planned. I think it's too extra if you go in with a different major and then switching it to Nursing. Just do good on the TEAS and you'll be fine. I use the MOMETRIX teas book to study and I heard good reviews from those who used it.

I am applying for fall 2019 as well,I am studying teas test and want to take it on December. Anyone here also take teas too? I have finished science classes but working on my other prerequisites and general education classes because I do not have 60 units to transfer.

Hi all. I just received my conditional acceptance on Monday Via email. I was extremely relieved because I was rejected from my first choice (CSUCI). I live in Ventura County. My cumulative GPA is 3.56, however my prerec. GPA is 4.0 . Teas score was 93. Has anyone else heard back?
