East Carolina University 2014 Accelerated Bachelor's of Science in Nursing

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All,

I was recently accepted into ECU's ABSN program for 2014, woohoo! It's a brand new program (they used to have an accelerated MSN program for second-degree students). I was wondering if those of us who were accepted could use this as a place to connect first. I have never lived in Greenville, so hopefully those Greenville-natives could give some tips on places to live, places to eat/hang-out, what ECU is like, etc.

I am currently living in Winston Salem, and will probably make a trip out there within the next week to check out apartments, etc. Does anyone know of any good apartment complexes/condos near the nursing building at ECU, where I could possibly bike/walk to school, or take a shuttle?

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from my fellow classmates!

Hi! I'm a senior in college and I plan on applying to UNC and Duke, but I was wondering about ECU's ABSN prerequisites. Are they the same as the traditional BSN track courses? I couldn't find it on their website.

@canopyglow I just received an acceptance to start the ABSN at ECU this June, do you have any insight on the program now that you have done over half of it? Does anyone in your cohort have small children or commute from outside of the area? I am so nervous, but excited! I have been googling a bunch but since the program is new, I haven't found much at all.

Hello fich, I am currently a student of the ABSN program at ECU. We have many people with small children-- including myself! A lot of students also commute too, we have some in raleigh and some in New Bern. This program so far has had a lot of kinks....I mean a lot. I think they are ironing some things out though. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Hi kr06b- thanks for answering! I am so glad to hear about people commuting and having babies. I was so worried about it especially with a (hopefully not) deployable husband but I keep telling myself I can do anything for 1 year. I know you are super busy but if you find that you have the time to exchange a few quick emails with me, let me know your address..I would love to pick your brain about a couple things.

Hello everyone! I'm currently located in New Bern, NC and will be submitting my application for ECU ABSN this summer (2016). I just want to give my overview of what I have going for myself and the application and maybe get a feel on the chances I may have of getting in! I completed my BS degree at the University of South Carolina in Exercise Science Pre-med track! I graduated with a 3.5 GPA my science prerequisites GPA is a 3.4! I am a military veteran and my husband is active duty Marines (I state this because I see they give points to military vets)! I'm very nervous about submitting my application ! Maybe a little reassurance would do me just fine but I would love to get a more personal sense of the program!

What is your email address?

Can any of you tell me more about the program? I will be applying very very soon

Hi everyone! I am in the process of applying for the Spring 2020 ABSN cohort. Is there anyone who has been through the program and can tell me a little more about it? I imagine with it only being one year long it is very intense. I have a 3.7 GPA and scored a 94 on the HESI. I know the program is very competitive, but I was hoping to learn other people's stats who were accepted to ease my mind. Thanks!
