DeSales University ABSN 2019-2020

Students School Programs

Published

Hello good folks,

Starting this thread for those applying to and attending DSU's ABSN program starting in May of 2019. I just interviewed yesterday, waiting on the decision. Anyone else?

Hello shhmericaa, I actually just send it my application for May 2019. Kind of last minute but they told me to submit it anyways as they check everyone. So hopefully I will be accepted. How did you interview go? Is there anything in specific that they ask ?

Nice! Best of luck, let me know if you get in?! The interview was very casual. They also did a tour and an explanation of the program. Questions were about how you're preparing and why you want to do it. It seemed to be a few questions chosen out of a list on the paper they had, so they probably mix it up. I didn't prepare anything specifically, just went in being myself. I think that's more appreciated than robo-responses.

Awesome, yes I will let you know as soon as I find out. I will have to take the chemistry pre-req as I took chemistry over 7 years ago... I will probably do it through their online classes. May I ask you how was your overall GPA and pre-req GPA? My overall is 3.6 and pre-req without chemistry is 3.2... Also how long did you have to wait until the gave you the answers that you got in? Moreover, thank you for the feedback about the interview, I greatly appreciate it :)

Thanks! Ah, I had to take chem as well :) My GPA was.....definitively lower than that :) You've nothing to worry about there. And I found out four days after the interview!

Great so maybe I will have a shot, I HOPE :) May I ask how was the chemistry class? You took is at DeSales, online? Was it very hard (I am not a fun of chemistry in fact I'v been avoiding to take it). And how long after you submitted your application and transcripts did you get your answer? Sorry for the overflow of questions :D

Hi Everyone!

I interviewed last Monday and was accepted at the end of my interview.

If you have not interviewed yet, do not sweat it, be yourself! I can tell you one thing, you will absolutely love the people you meet, especially Mrs. Natalie Cyphers. I was late for my interview because of traffic and traveling from two hours away, but they were so understanding. Before I found out whether I got in or not, I knew it was a school I would be happy moving to and felt confident that I would do well after meeting some of the professors and learning about the program in more dept in person.

The ONLY downside was that 2 of my prerequisites I took more than 5 years ago but it was only general psychology and stats. They offer a way to retake them online and you complete them at your own pace.

I have been accepted to the UNE but I am still waiting to see if I hear back from any others. I am from South Jersey so I applied to a few other schools that are closer but even still, I'm telling you, if you havent interviewed yet, you'll understand why I already want to choose DeSales before hearing back from other schools.

I am thinking I would rent an apartment in Allentown... is anyone else moving/would be totally new to the area?

Does anyone know how many of us there will be?

Either way I look forward to meeting all of you!

Hello jcd126, thank you for sharing with us!!! :)

I am still waiting on DeSales to call or email me with their decision. I submitted my application last weekend. How long after you submitted your application they contacted you? I am starting to get nervous :/...

I am from New York so I will be moving as well (if I get in :)) I was looking at Spring View apartments in Allentown. Those look nice but my husband most likely will be moving with me if not, I will have to look for a roommate as well.

I also have to take a prerequisite for chemistry as I took that 7 years ago, but I am waiting for the registration until I get called for the interview.

Wishing you all the best and congratulations !! :)

Hi again FutureScrubNurse, I'm sorry!! I feel bad I left you hanging, please don't be nervvoouuss

I see you posted this a couple of weeks ago - any update?

I think this is prime time for application submissions, so they are probably taking longer than they did with mine.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't want you, everything you mentioned earlier sounds great! I will try to stay updated with this website. I stopped receiving e-mails for new comments, it seems.

Hey jcd126! Congratulations!! So happy to hear how much you like the school. I've been raving about the sim clinics to everyone. It really helps me feel confident that I'll be ready for the real world after the program.

Allentown and Bethlehem are two popular areas for students. Easton is a nice little town too. I don't know much about expenses between the three. When I was there five years ago, I had a decent rent shared with two roommates in Bethlehem.

I've been wondering about the cohort size as well. Surprised I don't know it, but I imagine on the small side for sure.

Man, it's nice that we have a bunch of Jerseyans here but I hope we get to meet some people from farther away :)

Hello shhmerica :) Thank you for your post, no worries we are all busy in this world of ours so I totally understand.

So unfortunately, no update for me just yet... I did call them just now and asked if they received all of my documentation just do be sure, as my transcripts were send through mail. For some reason it doesn't show they got them on my application online. Anyways, a very nice lady over the phone told me that they are still reviewing the applications... so I asked her if I should be expecting an email or a phone call if I got in to the program, and she answered I believe so...

OMG this is making me too nervous haha... I just wonder how much longer until they inform me, the deadline for all applications is this month by the end of the month. Also I wonder if let's say I didn't get in if they also would let me know, any comments on that?

All my best to you and everyone else :) !!!

Hello everyone! Quick question... I just looked at my online application and it looks like they have waived some of the material that was requested from me, instead of received it says waive even on my recommenders.. did you have the same thing happen with you online application? Is this good or bad?
